What I write is useless If free speech is no longer mine I am a muse and give instruction Everything I write is based on truth Sometimes it hurts; I know it hurts me Other times it is what is needed It has a chance of changing a life May affect behavior to the better I ask and pray for direction Am answered: I have taught you all you need You may miss Me, but I leave you with the Holy Spirit He will be with you as you travel your path We are advised to accept this message These are troubling times we live in So upsetting and hard to believe Why is it that man needs power? There is an egotistical desire to control It is certainly a stage of wealth Dictators are treacherous individuals The condition on lives of others are of no concern Freedom of voice and opinions are shut down We are the land of the free and the home of the brave Are we witnessing this belief being taken away? Who do we turn to? The One we have heard of The One who’s Light will overcome all darkness The One who said to love your neighbor To go to the fringes where help is needed Where our light will help overcome their darkness Steve Haarman aka Stanski January 13, 2021 ^

QUICK FIX
Look at our country Appears pretty good National parks Beautiful rivers and lakes Professional sports year around Activity everywhere People on the move Nothing left to prove Millions unemployed Record school dropouts Murders on the rise Food stamps prevalent Four-dollar gasoline Public outrage Ideology in Constitution out What to do? Many unaware More don’t care The “do” people outnumbered The “no” people become obstacles Normal channels doomed to failure The “no” people promised handouts Paid for by those who produce Infrastructures left unattended Signs of crumbling identified Repairs blocked to save a species Bridge collapses killing hundreds Industries shut down because of cost Production sent to other countries Exploration for natural resources Put on hold by regulations What can we do to turn around? There is no single academic answer We must change the culture Put an end to indoctrination Expose the deceit of authoritarians The persuasion of media, movies, and music A daunting task, there is no quick fix Truth takes time to be exposed By Steve Haarman aka Stanski January 12, 2021
TRUTH DOES NOT DEVIATE
My friends, I’ve taken the blame For all the failures coming from me I’ve done my best and I’ll let it rest And work my life toward liberty So many are in denial Truth can be evasive I bow my head and plod forward Develop theories that are creative There are mysteries that have answers But they are hidden from the best of mankind So excuses and diversion come to cover up We are left in wonder with hope left to find But hope can be listless; no answers apparent We struggle, proceed ---the present eases with logic Alone are we in a world turned upside down Only to determine that we have a new project Basically we desire the state of peace We pray to God for some relief But know there are symptoms of decay And in that situation we find our grief Now is not the time to let up --- Egregious followers keep raising their flag They are in denial but think they are right Like characters proclaiming the ease of the plague Truth, my friends, never deviates We keep progressing in spite of the odds And proclaim victory over the disdained Thanking profusely our Sacred God Steve Haarman aka Stanski January 11, 2021 ^

WE TRUST
You can trick me, my friend
It will not be the first time
I have been around for a while
No misery can hide my smile
I took the look; my bearings shook
But I settled down to rebut you
I know the breakers of the rule
You know I am not a fool
Beating me down makes me sigh
When I am broken I rise
Possibilities exist up to the skies
You showed me the worst in man
I’ll introduce you to the best I can
Goodness is so superlative and
Disruption has a few, but very few fans
I know the way; I have been shown
Glory is unrivaled; it is so renowned
Ego and condescension ends in abuse
Look me in the eye; I will call the truce
But you think you are not a fool, don’t you
I will come down on the side of love
Others are determined to run from terror
Look at the choices; then look at the dove
What are the fools doing laying on the floor?
My friend you can count on me
Do you have anyone guarding the door?
I’ll be coming down on the side of mercy
Watch for me, won’t you?
Within me the Spirit moves

BE WHO YOU ARE
There is thought of change
Because you resist the conventional
Others may be disappointed in you
Unable to fully understand
There are different strokes
As the old saying goes
We all learn our own ways
Being true to your self can be good
No one has any idea of
Who they influence and inspire
Changing when you are fine
Is not the thing to desire
Your truth in action, in being
Is more than what it seems, to
Those who may doubt you
You cannot worry or be in a hurry
To try to change so as to please
It is they who have to seize
The chance to tell you to carry on
The way you do because it suits you

CONFUSION
Telephone notes
Overdue bills
Add to clutter
Looking like a power pole
In Chinatown
Dirty clothes
And ashtrays
Dripping faucets
Rust-stained shower with
No clean towels
Kitchen sink full
Of dirty dishes
Refrigerator empty
With no hope of refill
Glass in side door
Patched with duct-tape
Covered with weather-proof
Plastic tacked in with carpet nails
Parents have been gone for how long?
Too long is the answer
No chance on getting them back
Died with tears in their eyes
And with broken hearts
Although not from pain, but
Disappointment in not
Having claim to success
In their effort to
Teach esteem and reliability
Self-respect was a foreign word
Laundry room full
Of everything but
Soap and bleach
Dryer without vent
Clothes just lay there
No hope of seeing them clean
Know what I mean?
This thing I’m on has to stop
And let me off
No need to be this way
Turn it around or
Start on fresh ground
Which may not be better

WINTER EVENING
Three inches of light snow
Waiting to be shoveled
Only to clear a path to the bird feeder
Adeptly I one-hand it using my foot as an aid
Carry in my other hand apple peels, scraps and
A container of nuts and seeds which I empty
Into the feeder spreading the rest down below
The deer usually come there to look for scattered seed
Tonight there are two and the big one finds the peels
Cortland and Macintosh taste pretty good
The yearling just watches
Rules are rules and you don’t mess with the big guy
Especially while eating is going on
The ever vigilant deer get spooked and run away
Several minutes later they return
The big one finishes the scraps and moves on
There is no compassion for the other
Who went without
Survival of the fittest is the rule of this realm
One wonders why they care when they watch this behavior
Guilt can settle in if you make no attempt to share
The deer have no capacity for this feeling
Enough given for an army of two and only one benefits
No thanks are offered, no nods of appreciation
Tomorrow they will return and scratch and dig
They will not feel disappointment when nothing is there, but
Just move on to survive somewhere
We treat each other graciously at times
But you can see anger and meanness
Certain rights have been assumed and then trampled
By someone who feels more deserving
Life goes on and I need not worry
There are things you cannot control
I will perform as well as I can without
Treading on anyone’s dreams

WHEN WILL WE EVER LEARN
I look at the picture
Someone’s abstract
A bird-man standing
Proud look on face
I recognize order
Good colors
An objective effort
Very creative
It lifts me up
Something I need
Depression is bad
As is election fraud
How can it happen?
Rigged voting machines
Suitcases full of phony ballots
Mailed out ballots by decree
Dead people voting
Soldier’s votes not counted
It breaks my morale
My confidence is low
I am not a thief
Cannot tolerate lies
Corruption prevails
No scarecrows
Or attack dogs
Just the controllers
I look at another abstract
An old western town
The usual chaos
Women in windows
Men in saloons
A feeling of fear
The edge of violence
History repeats
Peace is denied
Must we live this way?
Locusts plague Eastern Africa
Most farms ruined
China plagues the world
Plausible deniability
Governors rule by fiat
Many deaths
God help us

VOICELESS CHALLENGE
Some think it is easy to sit and
Put words down on paper to
Teach or inspire as would a muse
Fascinate in a rhythmic way
Tell a story in a form that rhymes and
Do it well every line, every time
If that were the way who would refuse
To take a shot at it? What could they lose?
That, however, is not the case and
When I walk down the hall to my place
I walk by artistic expressions of the
Human face, which hang on the wall
The energy I feel, the creativity and passion
Are enough to silently challenge me

TO SERVE OR BE SERVED
Many are called who hear the sound
Of those calling out hoping to be found
But every action has some price
Who will pay and what will suffice?
The works of those on the right track
Who answer this call with no looking back?
Will they pay the piper when he looks for us?
And if he did would that be a plus?
Hard as it seems, there is an answer
Service to others, we would like to advance here
Rulers may lord, but we must serve
Tyrants will laugh, but we’ll not be unnerved
Who will sit in the highest glory?
Responders to the call: end of story
