 HAVE NO COMPLAINTS
Complaints ring hollow                                                                                                                                                                        when we view possibilities                                                                                                                                                           and awake to opportunities.                                                                                                                                                         What is in our way for anything                                                                                                                                                     if we were to try?                                                                                                                                                                      Nothing has to be the reply.                                                                                                                                                         Why would you turn it down?                                                                                                                                                            There is no place, no city or town                                                                                                                                                 where you could rest without disgrace                                                                                                                                             although no one would know                                                                                                                                  unless you would tell                                                                                                                                                                           that you walked away                                                                                                                                                 when you knew you could turn around and change your life.                                                                                                                                                                         This life you have, and others don’t.                                                                                                                                                  They laid down theirs so you could pout

about how tough it is to walk about.

With their life gone it’s up to you.                                                                                                                                                 You owe them.                                                                                                                                                                    Now you work for two.                                                                                                                                                        Their cause will not allow your pause.                                                                                                                                                           Honor for them is doing the best you can do,

and never forgetting what it’s about                                                                                                                                                              or why they fought.                                                                                                                                                                            And we must not forget those                                                                                                                                                              who came before us with nothing                                                                                                                                                        and who uttered no complaint

and showed no restraint                                                                                                                                                               for that which they knew they must do.

We are now thankful for the

lesson
There is no way to thank them for their gifts

except to improve the way we live.

AN UPSIDE DOWN WORLD

 Isis in Yemen
 Also Nigerian Terrorists
 The world is upside down
 Religion exists at risk
 Covid-19 running ramped
 Inoculations taking place
 Chines Communist Party seeking
 Control of the world
 The virus is their weapon
 Along with political unrest
 In the United States
 Election discord paramount
 Denial and contentious
 Main stream media effective
 In omitting the truth
 Peaceful protests meld into violence
BLM and Antifa are Marxist socialists
 Their names sound so innocent
 But they have spearheaded
 Millions of dollars in destruction
Cities on the rebound before covid-19
Now doubt exists they will not recover
 Huge irregularities in Georgia
 So obvious but yet denied
The pandemic seems to be a ploy
To cover the destruction of our rights
 Stimulus checks to foreign countries
 Soldiers homeless and depressed
The erudite are nowhere to be found
 Solutions seem to be haphazard
Politics in a quandary because of payoffs
The Chinese trying to tighten their grip
Are we ready to drop to the ground
 Like an overripe plum?
 Only time will tell

THE WAITING

Those who abide will receive their award
The philosophy of many learned people
Follow in the footsteps of the strong,
The righteous, the forgiving and the just
Know that darkness will never overcome
The sage remind us of the Sacred Light
We must never adjust to idleness
There is too much to do and time is short
Many are waiting for our help
Do we say yes to the call or just ignore
Are we attentive to the world’s condition?
Lovely cruises in warm climates sound great
But feeding those suffering starvation feels good
 Inspect the condition about you
What can you do to help improve it?
If this is the road you wish to take, remember
You must be strong and persevere because
It is an uphill climb and when you get to the top
You must realize that the journey has just begun
Some, including myself, are on the edge of the end
It would be easy to fold and walk away, but
Prudence advises that you would become depressed
You stay light and lively by giving of yourself
The Sea of Galilee is green and full of life
Trees, vines, flowers and shrubs grow abundantly
For every drop of water it receives, it gives back
The same to the Jordan River which then flows to
The Dead Sea where no life exists or could thrive
Every drop of water it receives it keeps
Where do you want to be?
Angelic spirits must be your guide
Open up and do what you know is right
When looking back you will have no regrets
Your home in the Kingdom will be waiting for you

JUST WONDERING

I wonder who these people are
 Working for us in Washington
 Truth seems not to matter
Corruption puts them on the run
Glory be they plead for money
While taking payoffs behind the scene
The set themselves up for a lifetime
It must be a part of the American dream
 We give away our equity
 To projects foolish and vile
 And to countries against us
 Then expect us to smile
 They act pompous and righteous
 As though they really cared
Control is really their main theme
No regard if to the taxpayer it was fair
 A pauper becomes a millionaire
 Then strong – makes proclamations
The oceans will be rising very soon, but
Then buy million dollar estates on the Vineyard
Must feel they are safeguarded by the moon
From a country song come these words:
"The moon could move oceans if it took the notion
Make mountains tremble and rivers run dry"
It cannot cancel culture or the level of the sea
We cannot have our history rewritten
Nor can we destroy out literature
Mark Twain wrote the good book
 Will Huckleberry Finn survive?
How can you celebrate Fidel Castro?
He killed hundreds of thousands of protestors
I wonder who these people are
Who dance in the moon light

THINGS WE KNOW OR SHOULD KNOW

There will be a time when
Wheat will be separated from chaff
 While the wheat is stored
 The chaff will be burned
 So it is with mankind
 We will hear weeping and
 The gnashing of teeth
 It will be too late
 We all have our chances
 Have learned right from wrong
Have at least been taught or heard
That we should be humble, not arrogant
That it is better to serve than be served
 Give of yourself to others
 This is idealism for sure
But a beautiful way to live
Those who deny will live the high life
But there is an unwritten cost for this
Who will be the collector of the toll?
We find out when we pass through the gate
Until then it would be wise
To do what we have been instructed to
So easy and still quite difficult
Too many distractions for the weak
Not enough tools for the meek
It is the fringes that they seek
Where they will make their effort
 With or without support
 Waiting for the final report

LITTLE ABNER AND ME

I was wondering what to do so
Decided to go look for Little Abner
Thought we could write a song
Or study the gestures of Groucho Marx
I was looking for log cabins
And laundry drying on a line
 Traveled Kentucky and Tennessee
This was being an adventurous feat
 Abner and I are alike
We both feel strong about truth
There is nothing we would do
 That could be considered uncouth
 We both love our country
 Have affection for the land
We stand and salute the flag
And think that the eagle is grand
In fact we could have been brothers
Harbor love, honor and respect in our hearts
The fact that I probably won’t find him
Was with me from the start
Dasie May was a loving bride
In the fields they would walk, not ride
They loved their home and family
 Lived their lives with humility
 Abner was a loving neighbor
Would help when needed with labor
I’ve done my best to track him down
Have scoured every village and town
So my adventure had to end
I think of him as a dear friend
He stood for righteousness without a doubt
His determination for goodness would never end

SPIRITUAL DREAMS

.

I am looking for the tall man
An Indian descendant of an angel
This is taking place in my dreams
I am mystical but have no angle
In searching what this life is about
 There are no handy answers
 Shamans may have an agenda
As a partial angel I feel a smear
 This giant, peaceful Indian man
Is here to offer to me good news
He isn’t preaching, just talking true
 Mentioned the Promised Land
 Being returned to the Jews
Talked about the universe, how unending
As for us we are specks of dust
Even the non-angel part of me
The universal tapestry is just rust
Still we all wish to place a stitch
This accomplishment won’t amount to much
What is beyond us is something glorious
Yet we are living in a world of multiple fuss
You can grow said this Indian wearing no paint
What is waiting for you we cannot discuss
I understand, he said, your present desire
You cannot possibly imagine the golden fire
Think of what you are doing every minute of your life
Watch out for everyone in the grips of strife
Dedicate yourself to what you know is right
The reward beyond you will be worth your fight
This beautiful man, the Indian angel
Conversed with me---beauty---there was no quarrel
It is now, he indicated, versus eternity
Give up all pettiness, it is glory you want to see
He vanished like vapor rising into the sky
My dream ended, could not be recalled
I saw the daylight and began to cry
I wanted to reach out, give him a kiss
He had reaffirmed for me the road to bliss
Love, honor and respect of others
He gave cause for my angel wings to flutter

NOONTIME PARTY

 NOONTIME PARTY

 Everything was ready
 That was the good part

 It is not unusual
 To have the hour strike
 The appointed time and
 Suddenly remember
That something was going to happen
 Then scramble to be ready

 This was so different:
Cloth napkins in cute napkin rings
 Lying beside each plate
 How nice!
A carved penguin for the table-décor
Followed by three little wooden chicks
Polar bear, also carved, stood guard

 Noon festivities began
 Everyone enjoying the great view
 Blessings were said including
 A prayer for frigid weather
A rally for the winter carnival
Secret prayers for an early summer

 Everyone enjoyed the pea soup
 Soon lunch was over
As I speak the truth I say
A good time was had by all
 After the cleanup
 I took a nap

TUNA FOR SIX

How many hands should a good cook have if

Too many chefs will spoil the stew?

More than one the answer would be

If you plan to bake and also serve tea

The recipe goes:

Melt the butter, add the flour and seasonings

Stir until bubbling, then for three minutes more

Mix in cream cheese, add tuna and olives

Cook noodles until tender and drain

Layer ingredients as directed into

A large greased bowl

Place in oven

Bake for one-half hour at 350 degrees

Clean up the measures, spoons and the pans

Two hands to work with, everything is fine

Remove chef hat, apron:   it’s time to serve

The table is dressed with clean cloth

Fresh flowers and candles burning so bright

Guests look ready to eat all in sight

They smile, drink wine, and toast each other

Playing their part, they’re on best behavior

They claim, one and all, the tuna supreme

Is something they’d dreamed of forever

Soon it is over; dessert and more wine

The music fades out:  time to go home

Ready, they say good-night and go

Leaving me happy, but worn to the bone

GETTING THROUGH A DAY

“Here is another one I wrote”, she said.                                                                                                                                         I listened, waiting so I could reply with an unrehearsed,

“that was very fine.”  She smiled, knowing that it was,

and smiled, knowing that I would never say anything

different, not because I couldn’t or

wouldn’t, but appreciated my splendor in being prudent.

“What would you say if that was Stanley’s work?”

“Oh, I would say that was very fine Stan and I mean it,

too.”  Stan would have a glimmer in his eye.

He wouldn’t really care.  He wrote it as it was and that was that.

He would have it no other way.

She said that she was like that and that if it

worked for her then she had nothing to dread.

“I am willing to wait until the readers get caught up

and I won’t hesitate to help them along if they so

desire, and if they just want to leave it alone and walk away

with no consideration for another day then that’s just the way it is.

I think that last writing said as much and by the way

do you like Michigan Fudge, because you can have some

if you promise to be good.”  “I think I am always good,

my self-esteem is high and I have enough of it to carry us both.”

She said she was grateful and then she wondered when

we were going to buy a boat or were we just going to ride our ponies?
