Day: December 12, 2022

Today it is rambunctious outside

The wind is blowing and waves

Are breaking on the shore

It is damp and bone-chilling cold

The clouds are mostly gray with

A little sunlight lighting up the

Lower clouds.  This is seasonal

On top of the negativity there is

Good news.  Beauty exists and

We may have to look for it we

Will find it if we have the interest

People’s moods seem depressed

Happiness shown is a rare thing

We are strange birds.  If the weather

Is one way we will want another, but

We settle on what is.  Human nature

And besides, we couldn’t change it

If we tried.  We have no control over

The climate.  Glaciers existed out

There where the waves of Lake Michigan

Are swirling and changing directions

Following the force of the wind.  We

Take pictures of the sunsets and sunrise

And are astonished at the beauty

That is where you see joy on the faces

Of the same people who were dour

Earlier in the day.  But overall people

Are good and can adjust to about

Anything.  They take the bad with

The good and although their heart

Strings are toughed when trouble

Exists they manage to rise up to the

Occasion and good will prevails.  This

Day will pass but we have about three

Months to go before we can expect

Relief.  There are many who have it

Worse with hurricanes and tornadoes

We shall pray for their well-being and

Be thankful for our good fortune

The reflection of light coming from the

Sun’s action on the clouds is striking as

It hits the waves in a rhythmic way.

It is damp and cold and a light coat

Of snow flurries is on the evergreen trees

We are in wonder on how much we know

And then how little we know.  Some islands

Came from volcanos which finally rose above

The surface of the ocean.  High rise hotels

Now exist where there was once just water

We have many answers, but seem to ask

The wrong questions.  There is always

Beauty and wonder if we are willing to look

There is also happiness and joy, even the quiet

Joy we find for making it through another day

We are a blessed people and have a lot to

Answer for if we misuse our gifts. We cannot

Ignore needs just as we must accept rain in

The spring. Our tendencies are to keep

Prodding on without looking back.  Sometimes

Our mark is admirable while other times can

Bring shame because we acted without thinking

We should mature as we grow but at times get

Stuck in an unpleasant rut.  It may not be easy

To climb out of because of pride but sooner or

Later we come to our senses and abide.  Then

We are pleasant to be around and add something

To the arena of life.  No one is perfect.  We all

Have faults and should look at our own first.

Hopefully we will see the reflection of goodness

There will not always be sunshine, but the waves

Will keep rolling in.  we hope what we see then

Will make us proud of our caring and love of others.

This morning as I roll out of bed

I see that mother nature has

Added a little white dressing

To the evergreen trees. She

Likes to look her best and

Didn’t overload so that the

Driveway is easy to navigate

The lake and sky are equally gray

With a little reflection of light

On the water.  The wind is nil

For which we are happy.  It is

Going to be a busy day getting

Ready to make others happy

For Christmas tide.  There are

Times we overdo it thinking

We have not done enough, but

We must remember that it is

Love and goodness that makes

One happy and not things,

Which are not needed, but

Are nice to have.  We look at

Pictures of people celebrating

Back in the 1800’s. They look

Happy and have kept things simple.

They cut their own trees to

Decorate and so can we as

We also outdo ourselves with

Lights and lawn decorations.

People are happy and generous

They put money in the buckets

Of the Salvation Army.  This will

Help feed many people.  School

Children are getting ready for

Their Christmas celebration

They are reminded not to forget

Their studies.  So, it goes on a

Gray day with the sun trying to

Break through the clouds.

Everything seems in order and

Is as expected this time of year.

Kindness, goodness and cheer.

Peace, glory and thankfulness.
