THE STATE OF THINGS

The world is in a state of clutter

To many, it doesn’t matter

They didn’t ask to sleep on the street

Or live where you crap and pee

Where you sleep.  They tried out

Drugs on their own.  Found themselves

Addicted and couldn’t get a loan so

They stole and sold just to get a hit

Just looking at them you knew

That they were lit and didn’t care

Some have a four million toilet coming

In a couple of years.  They can brag

About this to their less fortunate peers

Some seek help and escape the mess

No one knows what to do with the rest

They are there piled up living like rats

Some add to the mess with dogs and cats

They are all children of the creator

That they lost their dignity doesn’t

Seem to matter.  They are victims

It’s not their fault, they had no choice

No one told them.  They have no remorse

So they continue to live in squalor

Clean themselves at hydrants or fountains

The city doesn’t seem to care.  Isn’t this abuse?

In NYC the animal rats are taking over

The politicians thought they had the floor

They did a good job of ruining a great city

What discrimination does is such a pity

Racist attacks by Sharpton make headlines

When shown to be untrue there is no mention

Manhattan underwater by 2012?  Where

Is the great Ted Danson now?  Selling

iPhone plans on television.  No mention

of his failed prediction.  Very typical

what happened to critical thinking?
