MEDICARE ENTITLEMENTS

Does everyone know?

We only have a few days

Actually about two months

To look into Medicare

Check out our benefits

What we are entitled to

Rides to the doctors

Prescriptions, eye glasses

Oxygen, hearing-aids

Food and supplies

And oh, so much more

Just a few days left

You might be entitled

To 144 dollars every month

Find out if you qualify

It’s worth looking into

Wheel-chairs or crutches

Be sure you get all

That you deserve

Taxpayers are happy providers

You just call and stake your claim

Then you are off

Like the “Easy Riders”

Time is running out

Act now, don’t hesitate

Get all fixed up and ready

Well prepared for the Golden Gate

I guarantee it!

OUR STATE OF AFFAIRS

Dear friends, it’s been a day

Thanksgiving, my favorite

I am at home but feel

Somehow like I am away

With the Chinese Virus,

Just to give Covid-19 a name

Liberty is at risk

Things may never be the same

Little dictators with their fiats

Closing mom and pop stores

Letting Walmart stay open

But limiting what you can buy

They close restaurants and bars

Putting people out of work

Close down places of worship

Planned Parenthood deemed essential

The lock down is terrible

Causing more deaths than the virus

Suicide, depression, no doctor visits

Everyone is under unnecessary stress

Wear a mask, don’t wear a mask

We are hit with uncertainty

But control is the thing and it is invoked

At every opportunity

This will all end, dear friends

One way or another

When dictators run for office

We will advise them not to bother

We can do much better

Out people are suffering

But that is the point

They are getting it done

Defunding the police

Allowing terror in the streets

There will be the day when

They learn that crime does not pay

Happy Thanksgiving

LOOKING FOR ANSWERS

What brings peace to a soul?

Working through the day so bravely

What could possibly be his goal?

Maybe to get home safely

The work is steady and true

You know he has a clue

Wakes up early every day

Has coffee and packs his lunch

He only has so much pay

He knows the meaning of crunch

Some say that he’s an angel

And doesn’t have an angle

When can he take a break?

If there is no relief

What can we do for his sake?

To ease him of his grief

Never has asked for much

Will have to have the right touch

Will he ever open to others

He really needs to lie down

Give him lots of covers

Tell him he’s the toast of the town

Many want to salute him

Even when things look dim

What brings the peace?

We want to know

Some say miracles never cease

Some look for cosmic glow

He plans ahead for tomorrow

At ease with his load of sorrow

He hears bells when they ring

Is aware of every hour

Shares the songs he will sing

Never seems to be sour

Has faith in his God

A man is he from the sod

SEVEN FIVES

Rain falling gently

Drops from roof

Taps on ground

   As though

Morse-code were still the rage

The rage is digital

The clicking taps

Are like rain

   Hand-held

Reign supreme among youth

Youth are gentle

In their own way

Like rain on

   A sunny day they

Get in the way of our progress

Progression is slow

In one dimension

Many drops of water

   In a short time

May lead to flooding on the street

Street cleaning

Fun to watch

Water sprayed

   So forcefully

Then swept up by oversize brush

Brush my shoes

To a shine

On a corner stand

   Looking grand

Six dollars plus a tip will make it ten

Ten minutes to go

Plenty of time

Beginning to rain

   After the shine

Everything I’m sure will work out fine

FALLEN

FALLEN

We break

Are broken

Left wondering

What do we do?

Where do we go?

Why are we helpless?

When will tomorrow come

With deliverance from this despair?

What about faith?

Where do we find hope?

Why is there no understanding?

When will the morning light appear?

We are known and hear angelic singing

The storm is passing over

Praise be to God

Answers came

We are reassured

And learn how to bend

In all manner of storms

Have resiliency

Endure difficulties

Renew faith, hope and understanding

Be one with truth

Guide others

Persevere with

Thanksgiving

HEALING

Broken and wounded

Wondering why

   Heartache has to remain

When all we do is try to heal

Anger remains

   Even though

Prayers for release are prayed

And all we seek is to

   Make it through the day

We aware of His mercies

Bring Him into our heart

He would tell us

   A good start

Empty yourself

   Lighten your load

I give you all the power you need

Now it’s up to you to lead yourself

When you open you know your path

Forgiveness is a start

What was, is fragmented

Will not come back together

Move on with love

   A different love

No more need for tether

BEING IN AWE

The wind is howling

While the lake

(An Inland Sea)

Just roars

Rain drops wet the ground

Temperatures linger

Just above freezing

During the day

It warms to the low 40’s

It is still fall or autumn

Most of the dead pine needles

And leaves have fallen

At 4 A.M. the moon was bright

And several constellations

Of stars were visible

The waves and lake

Have reclaimed the beach

Water is at its highest level

The dunes are protected

By the powers to be

But nature acts without permits

The DNA and DEQ means nothing

Arrogance buys nothing

We are just witnesses

Standing in wonder

Thankful for existence

WAVING BANNERS

How important is our banner

If it has no meaning

All the words and their might

If they only remain as dreaming

You see the grin, the flashing teeth

We’ll see you all next season

Not considering we might not be back

Due to sickness, death, or any reason

We march on though – brave and bold

Tending to what is important

Stepping by those who are in the way

The sick, needy and otherwise impotent

We have our things, and what we do

Our agendas clear we stick to the rule

There is more along with this

Other groups that also think they’ll do

Fingers are pointed at the other guy

Who doesn’t seem to have a clue

Those are the kind we’re talking about

They get in the way of our being home free

Ignore the fact that they need help

Unaware of their misery, but

There is one who stops and listens

Hears and knows what the deal is

Gets the crumb-bag back on his feet

Makes sure he is safe and then pays his bills

The Samaritan knows who his neighbor is

He knows the story of love and

Is content to serve those in trouble

Never had a need for a banner

THINGS I WONDER ABOUT

I wonder about a lot of things

Some important, others frivolous

I wonder if Dr. Stork advertising

Co-Q10 is an obstetrician-gynecologist

I think about the man at the car-parts store

Waiting in line, then dropping his basket

And walking out to go order on line

Someone could trip over it and be injured

But the affirmation of bad behavior goes on

I wonder how close we are to being

The overripe fruit dropping to the ground

As Khrushchev warned Kennedy when predicting

That our country would become communist

I wonder about the swamp and corruption

Entering congress as paupers; leaving as millionaires

I think about who the government is working for

When they raise taxes and impose regulations

I wonder why people put their parties against each other

Democrat versus Republicans much like football teams

Michigan State University versus University of Michigan

They are not aware apparently that the parties have changed

John F. Kennedy would be a conservative Republican today

I wonder why some politicians want to get back

into the Paris Climate Agreement

As It was before where we are taking the hit financially

while China walks along with India

I wonder why we want unlimited illegal immigration

And are willing to pay for their housing, food and health care

I wonder how those who have lost their jobs because of Covid

Feel about the government forgetting about their condition

I wonder about destroying our oil, gas, and coal industries

After we have become energy independent and have the cleanest air ever

I wonder if Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer will be put on hold

Until after the Christmas Holiday Season is over

HYPOCRISY GREED EXCUSES STUPIDITY AND CORRUPTION

The pictures we see

Leaders refuse to follow their own rules

Speaker of the House, Pelosi

Gets her hair blown out

Forgets about wearing a mask

Blames the shop owner

Says it was a set up

Shop owner closes her business

Governor Whitmer cautions about

Heading to northern Michigan to

Enjoy the Fourth of July

But her husband asks for cuts

To get his boat out of storage first

He was just kidding, of course

The Mayor of Philadelphia

Closes the restaurants in Philly

Then crosses the state line

With family and friends

To eat out at one of their dinners

He is caught, called a hypocrite,

But doesn’t care; insanity

Governor Newsom of California shuts

Down group gatherings over ten

Then has a party for twelve

Indoors in a closed off room

No social distancing or mask wearing

He says it was an outdoor event until

A photo showed the truth

I should have left he claims when he

Was the one who put it all together

Hypocrisy, greed, stupidity are not excuses

These are our leaders who have used

The Chinese virus to become dictators

And their dictates have cost many deaths

Because of imposed hospital rules

School closings is a setback for students

Many will not be receiving a good meal each day

Although it will save them from a year of indoctrination

Mom and pop businesses will be closing forever

While the big box stores thrive except

You can’t by certain products.

Follow the science they say then power play
