STANDING WATER

The spring water which

pools in seasonal ponds and

evaporates over the summer

is still standing alongside of

the road.  As time goes on it

will freeze and deer will crash

through it when it is covered

with snow.  I do not know

deer speak but I imagine

there will be some colorful

words spoken.  At the present

the colorful fallen leaves are

floating on the mirror like surface.

Nature is profound.  We tree hug

and feel good but basically or in

reality can do nothing but like or

dislike it.  I like it in all of its forms.

It is awesome to think that there

were glaciers where Lake Michigan

is now spectacularly showing itself.

They slowly receded to where

they now exist far to the north.

They did this all on their own.

Man was not involved and couldn’t

have affected nature’s process even

if they had wanted to.  Nature is

unique and man has no influence over it.

If man could cause a climate change

they could also reverse it.  Not too

long ago one of the founders of

Green Peace admitted that the

whole idea of their existence was a farce.

Today Lake Michigan is at record heights.

We accept it just as we do

the beautiful fall leaves changing color.
