OUT OF THE DARKNESS WILL COME THE TRUTH
Those who know go right on living and
keep on working doing what they
have to in order to survive.
They sing out from
the depths of their souls;
notes evolve from conditions
which they know will remain
and their roles will be the same.
They move silently between notes
finishing what they have been assigned to.
They know the truth and operate
out of their own faith. They trust in
a day of reckoning and patiently
advance from day to day.
Those who listen carefully are overwhelmed
by the intensity of the thoughts and emotions
which are poured into the music.
The note-men know and they try to show
that they are not eschewed by those who
hold the key to the locks on their chains.
The music men live this jive day in and out
and at night try to rest their weary souls.
They know love, honor and respect and
their actions are always expressing them for
they believe in putting their best foot forward.
There is no validity for the ways they
are being treated, but they suffer with dignity,
knowing that there will be an end to it all.
In the meantime they sing while going in
circles to nowhere. They are laughed at when
they stop and ask for wages and told to
get on their way. They changed horses
in the middle of the stream. The promises
made were too good to resist;
(too good to be true) but, as is so often the case,
were just words used to convert the susceptible.
The chance for the golden ring was worth going for
and now they know they made a bad choice.
They were fed a line and now everything was going
to be fine. Why couldn’t they see the obvious choice?
Why couldn’t they remember that they had
been promised relief before? The new agenda
sounds so good. Will they fall for it one more time
or have they learned their lesson. They keep on
singing from deep in their souls. They know that
one good thing about music, when it hits you,
you feel no pain. This time I pray that the rhythm
will not cast them out of the arena or reality.
Aren’t they tired of perfect pebbles and isn’t it time
for them to embrace a flawed diamond?
