Back in the days
When journalism
Still existed
I read in
The Atlantic Magazine
That free range chickens
Were better for you and
Tasted much better than
Chickens kept in a coop
From birth to slaughter
Beef kept on the hoof for
Three or more years
Had better marbling,
Taste and quality they
Those slaughtered after
Only one year and that
Grass fed cattle was
More desirable than
Corn and grain fed
I had six children at the time
And was working at least
Sixty hours a week
Jerry Ford was President and
The two parties were
About the same
Today the Atlantic
Writes horse manure
And calls it journalism
Lies make good copy
When they affect
The other guy adversely
The parties are not
The same today
Some are waking up
To this fact
As Aristotle said,
“I would rather have
A flawed diamond”, (Trump)
“Than a perfect pebble”, (Biden)
Speaking of manure, I believe
Horse droppings are about
A dime for twenty-two these days
