AWAKENING

Where is the truth?

   About this or that

Einstein had a simple childlike question

   How does the cosmos work?

A black hole is discovered, but

It is millions of light years away

How does your garden grow?

   What can you really teach?

Does discipline mean anything

   If it disrupts creativity?

How do you arrive at the center

Of things you know but don’t understand?

Does the collision of opposite forces

Explain the connection of light and dark?

Do answers come just by standing by

Or is intensive work and process in play?

When tulip bulbs are money

Should you weigh yourself down with gold?

Is a work of art a masterpiece

If it is never brought to light?

Where is the truth

   In whom do you confide?

Don’t ask the experts, my friend

They will be wrong and then surprised

The mind is a work of art, but is

   Not studied in “Appreciation”

Time will never run out if it is

   Used judiciously in our endeavors

Sanctity for the truth, a necessity,

But then only for the wise

LIFE ON THE PLAINS

Farmer’s boots with mud all over

Fencing put up in the rain

Post-hole digging is tiring

Like digging a grave

A long day makes the whiskey quicker

No one looks anyone else in the eye

Nerves are half broken; bones don’t need to be

Drink up and leave

Horses to feed and still the evening chores

Which were always waiting

Children gleeful but careful; help where you can

Do not upset equilibrium

Tomorrow will bring whatever Saturdays bring

Men cleanup for dinner

Not much talk of the day

Wagon will be driven to town

The list is already written

Mother feels good except

tomorrow it rains again and will not stop;

day after day for over two weeks –mud—mud;

wetness and shortages not planned on

Children are happy; no school –play in the wet

Stay happy; work hard; don’t irritate

This is their life; sometimes good

Mostly difficult; now and then bad

They were secure in the knowing

This is how life was; plans succeeded or failed

The plains were not all bad

There were peaceful times

Secure times; sometimes fires wiped them out

But to their credit they emerged again

Too strong to lay own; too bright to

Remember the bad

They grew and prospered; built new schools

New towns and churches

They knew life and its meanings

They lived it, until it finally came to an end

Those left went on; they knew the answers

The rules of survival were obeyed

WISHING AND HOPING

I wish:

   There were four

   Instead of just three

Birds singing their songs to me

Each has its own ring and

   While listening I

   Desire even more

I should:

   Say we when expressing

   What I think everyone wants

   Keeping it singular is indiscreet

When everyone I happen to meet

   Seems to agree and addresses

   Things so similarly

I complain:

When there is not enough rain

   Sometimes when it’s too hot

If the mail is late; the car won’t start

There’s work to do or sometimes naught

The snow’s too deep and I’m low on fuel

Then someone asks, so I say I’m cool

I turn away:

When the answer is wrong and

   I’m looking for the truth

When things aren’t done on time and

   No one seems to care

   I come up empty-handed

After I was so willing to prepare

I hope:

I don’t always feel so bad

When things don’t go my way

Or when someone has to leave

   After only a short stay

   There will be other times

When we take time to play

I desire

   To leave an impression

   Based on the truth

   Difficult to do

   When minds are made up

    Unjust backlash

   Then the walking away

IN SPITE OF BEING A FLAWED DIAMOND

One wonders about all the lies

The truth should never hurt

But when the obvious is ignored

There may just be a day in court

A case is slowly put together

With murmurings of Russian collusion

After three years of boiling it down

It appears to be only an illusion

Trying to bring down the president

The objective from the beginning

But no evidence to back their claims

And still they think they are winning

Meanwhile the President is not idle

A tireless worker; he gets things done

Removes regulations; reduces taxes

Gets us out of wars that can’t be won

Manufacturing returns to our country

Providing countless numbers of jobs

Pulled us from NAFTA and WHO

Offered help to control the mobs

Rebuilt the neglected military

Gave relief to all of the soldiers

Challenged China on all fronts

Hard to think of anyone bolder

Elevated the life of African Americans

Did the same for Latinos

Lifted everyone in the country

He was action and not just show

Is building the wall on the border

In spite of all the resistance

Gets blamed for the cages of Obama

Keeps moving; his way of insistence

Works on rebuilding the inner-cities

Calls them impoverished zones

Looks to offer schools of choice

Wants successful individuals

Not a parade of failure clones

Moves our embassy to Jerusalem

Brokered peace with the UAE and Israel

All of this while under constant attack

By politicians who should be in jail

TIME TO WAKE UP

No more stupid wars

No more regime wars

Pull our troops,

Bring them home

Regardless of the

Constant push back by

Those who sense loss

Year after year

They purport resistance

Now the President says,

“So what”

We are getting out

Power seekers cannot

Go against status quo

Military personnel want

To climb in the ranks

President Eisenhower warned

Of the Military Industrial Complex

Back in the 1950’s

Blame it all on Trump anyway

The Liberals are unhinged

They hope the President fails

They wish to incite violence

And stoke diversion

Across the country,

If it helps them gain power

The President is trying

Even fighting to restore,

Renew and rebuild

Our great nation,

While the liberals are

Continuing to play politics

These do nothings do not

Deserve power

When they have had it,

It has been abused

If they achieve it

It will be abused again

Time to wake up

It is not your

Grandfather’s Party

It is now Socialist

THE ATLANTIC

Back in the days

When journalism

Still existed

I read in

The Atlantic Magazine

That free range chickens

Were better for you and

Tasted much better than

Chickens kept in a coop

From birth to slaughter

Beef kept on the hoof for

Three or more years

Had better marbling,

Taste and quality they

Those slaughtered after

Only one year and that

Grass fed cattle was

More desirable than

Corn and grain fed

I had six children at the time

And was working at least

Sixty hours a week

Jerry Ford was President and

The two parties were

About the same

Today the Atlantic

Writes horse manure

And calls it journalism

Lies make good copy

When they affect

The other guy adversely

The parties are not

The same today

Some are waking up

To this fact

As Aristotle said,

“I would rather have

A flawed diamond”, (Trump)

“Than a perfect pebble”, (Biden)

Speaking of manure, I believe

Horse droppings are about

A dime for twenty-two these days

THE ERUDITE SPEAK

The erudite speak.  Nothing good to say

About this President.  They go to Ann Arbor

For intellectual stimulation

Come back and spread foolishness

Like Trump is illegitimate.  What has he done?

Covid-19 is his responsibility?

Almost 200,000 deaths.

Not really the truth; many false claims

Houston’s Hospitals are over-flowing.

No, not really, but the truth does not matter.

Terror and destruction in liberal cities

across the country.  All his fault.

Defund the police, not his decision.

Prior to the Chinese Virus— many amazing records:

Lower taxes, abolished regulations, low unemployment

strong military, aid to soldiers, brought soldiers home.

Rejected the WHO and NAFTA.

Demanded members of NATO to pay their share.

Killed terrorists, did not begin wars,

brought industries back home.

Became energy independent.

Provided disaster aid where needed.

Do you hear the erudite speaking?

No, they are quiet.  Only made up stuff

When asked what Joe has done for 47 years,

they are quiet.  Can only hold up

an empty cookie sheet.

Then the Covid-19 disaster.

They return from Ann Arbor.

The piling on begins with anything negative,

the false accusations of the media.

They are brilliant.

They can carry water and must love socialism

They are the cheerleaders

NIGHT MUSIC WITHOUT COGNAC

It amazes me how the mind

moves faster that the fingers

holding the pen and how

Pulitzer thoughts are forgotten

before they can be recorded.

It is then when we recognize

the majesty of the Creator Who knows all

and allows all things to unfold.

I lay in bed listening to piano music which

is secular and full of a rhythm that

could lull me to sleep in short order,

if it were not for the fact that

I go into meditation and think of all

the wonders of nature and the Creator

and then at the feebleness

of all the nations who seemingly

with pleasure destroy all the goodness

which has been laid down at our feet.

There appears to be an urgency

to control and put ourselves as nations

above it all and then try to dominate

what is not ours to begin with.

The music speeds up and there are

a few drum rolls as though you have

broken through with awareness,

but in reality, the music is just saying

that history is constantly repeating itself

and we have much awakening to go through

before we will come to realize

that we are nothing and will eventually

as nations and individuals return to dust.

We know nothing of the millions and

billions of years that have gone by before us

and here we are high and mighty

thinking we know it all.

No one owns wisdom and

opinions are a dime a dozen.

My music ends; I open my eyes;

see no stars shining; too many clouds

so I cannot celebrate that gift

but can hear the music of nature and

realize we have so much to learn.

WILL WE EVER LEARN

Who is paying for all of the destruction and burning.

Who is paying for all of the rioting and looting.

There is no need to sit and scratch your head.

Because we the taxpayers will be footing the bill.

This must make the Hollywood liberals and

the George Soros types laugh until they fall over.

They happily fund the anarchists and

the Black Lives Matter Groups

who are avowed Marxists and

want this country to fall apart and

become another Cuba or Venezuela.

The actions of the anarchists are called

peaceful demonstrations, although

none of the videos look peaceful at all.

Who are these people behind all of

the acts of the anarchy?  Why do they want

America to fall away from their

entrepreneurship ways and succumb

to a form of living, under a dictator,

which allows everyone to be equal in their misery

and if there are any objectors to this

they are quickly eradicated?

The “peaceful protestors” do not think about this.

They are prodded on by the agitators who willingly

provide the tools and weapons needed for the chaos

which turns destructive and violent in short order.

Police are told to stand down and watch their city

which they have given their lives to being destroyed,

looted and burned.  To deal with the few bad apples on

the force appropriately is put aside

in favor of billions of dollars in damage.

If Marxism can prevail then it will have been

a good investment for the anarchists.

We can only hope and pray that someone

with higher powers is watching over us.

The One Whose Light will overcome all darkness.

FULL BRIGHT MOON

The moon if full

Stars are in harmony

Nature is singing

Night animals prancing

There is a mood

For dancing shoes

Once a month unless

The moon is blue

A happy occasion

Causing all to wander

Contemplate the universe

An undefinable wonder

We think of the moon

Its control of the tides

Think of the prairies

And buffalo hides

What might have been

And still can be

The enigma of this

Land of the free

Is the moon smiling?

We are energy free

Socialists rebel

Control is their glee

The moon s full

It has no thought

Skies are bright

There is naught

Quieting of certainty

Nor could there be

There is only one truth

It is Thee
