Windmill Facts

That little yellow thing at the top of the picture is a CAT-9 bulldozer. It is burying acres and acres of windmill blades used for “Green Energy.” Why?

Because these blades need to be disposed of, and there is presently no way to recycle them. That’s how green energy works! Who knew? Maybe the people that make them knew. Why would they let that cat out of the bag? After all, they are government-subsidized with tax-payer money (just like every electric car). Also, politicians do not want those huge eyesores in their backyard.

Right now, the average wind farm contains about 150 turbines. Each wind turbine needs 80 gallons of oil as a lubricant, and we're not talking about vegetable oil, this is a PAO synthetic oil based on crude. 12,000 gallons of it for 150 turbines, and that oil needs to be replaced once a year. It is estimated that a little over 3,800 turbines would be needed to power a city the size of New York... That's 304,000 gallons of refined oil per year for just one city. That’s 25+ wind farms.

Now, you have to calculate every city across the nation, large and small, to find the grand total of yearly oil consumption from “clean” energy. Where do you think all that oil is going to come from? Well, since January 2021, it comes from our enemies in the Mideast. Not to mention the fact that the large equipment needed to build these wind farms runs on petroleum. As well as the equipment required for installation, service, maintenance, and eventual removal. And just exactly how eco-friendly is wind energy anyway?

Each turbine requires a footprint of 1.5 acres, so a wind farm of 150 turbines needs 225 acres. To power a city the size of NYC, you'd need 57,000 acres; and who knows the astronomical amount of land you would need to power the entire US. All of which would have to be clear-cut land because trees create a barrier and turbulence that interferes with the 20mph sustained wind velocity necessary for the turbine to work properly. Also, keep in mind that not all states are suitable for such sustained winds. Boy, cutting down all those trees is gonna upset a lot of green-loving tree-huggers.

Let's now talk about disposal.

The lifespan of a modern, top-quality, highly efficient wind turbine is 20 years. After that, what happens to those gigantic fiber composite blades? They cannot be economically reused, refurbished, reduced, repurposed, or recycled. So, it's off to special landfills they go. And, they're already running out of these special landfill spaces for the used blades that have already exceeded their usefulness. Those blades are anywhere from 120 ft. to over 200 ft. long, and there are 3 per turbine. And that's with only 3% to 7% of the nation currently being supplied with (intermittent, i.e., unreliable) wind energy. Just imagine if we had the other 93% of the nation on the wind grid... 20 years from now you'd have all those unusable blades with no place to put them... Then 20 years after that, and 20 years after that, and so on. “Green energy?”

Also, about 500,000 birds are killed each year from wind turbine blade collisions, many of which are endangered hawks, falcons, owls, geese, ducks, and eagles. Apparently, smaller birds are more agile and able to dart and dodge out of the way of the spinning blades, whereas the larger soaring birds aren't so lucky.

Here's another problem with windmills. The generator and switching equipment operate at high power and voltage. Everything in the windmill nacelle (look it up) is compact due to limited space, so there's a danger of arcs and electrical fires. This is prevented by putting all the electrical equipment in a pressure vessel filled with sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), a synthetic gas that has dielectric properties which suppress arcs and fires. However, windmills leak this gas, something around a pound each per year. SF6 has an atmospheric lifetime of 3,200 years and is 22,800 times more effective as a greenhouse gas than carbon.

THIS IS ANOTHER ITEM THAT FALLS UNDER THE CATEGORY OF, “GEE WHIZ, I GUESS WE DIDN’T THINK THIS THROUGH”(!!!)

ARE YOU LISTENING, AOC?

HYPOCRITES AND FOOLS

I look at the calm Lake Michigan

And see ducks and geese swimming by

No hassles, every bird is on its own

They go underwater for food

Come up and continue

The sun is shining and in the

Southeast there is a strobe-like effect

Nature has its ways of prompting

Various responses by man and animals

Including insects and birds

We are helpless and cannot cause

Nature to change and also cannot

Cause climate change

In the 1970s there was clamor about

How we were moving into an

Ice-age and it was our fault

When that didn’t work out they

Reported that we were causing

The earth to heat up.  They used

The same words, just substituting

Heat or cold and when the temperatures

Averaged the same they changed

The name of their scheme to

Climate change.  Of course, it was

Man-made.  America came up with

Many regulations to put an end to

The approaching disaster.  They

Blamed it all on carbon emissions

Carbon is needed for the growth of

Trees and plants and exchanges it

For oxygen.  Those who could

Regulated oil and gas exploration

The wind direction changed and the

Waves are moving in a different

Pathway and we have no say

We can say this:  Evil people are

Attempting to destroy America

There is no green energy.  Then costs

Of producing it are greater then

The value received from them

JUST SO YOU KNOW

Many times at night

Right before sleep

I think of words that

Go together and form

A nice bit of poetry

I should get up and

Write down the poem

But I put it off thinking

I’ll scribble it down tomorrow

But then in the morning

I try to think of my great work

And cannot bring it to mind

This is hard to accept but

I cannot punish myself

This happens to everyone

And we never learn

Someone asks me a question

I know the answer but

Cannot bring it to mind

The person leaves and

Five minutes later

I have the answer

Trumpeting in my mind

I am the only one happy

The only one aware

I get a pad and pen

Take it to my bedside table

Think about taking a nap

Realize it could ruin my

Chances of scoring tonight

I pick up another pad and

Find a pencil and sit down

To write another muse

Nothing comes to mind

So I decide to write down

Some thoughts that I have

Life is a gift and a miracle

Each moment of the day

And night are miracles

The bird that flies by

Knows where to go for food

This is awesome and a miracle

A WORLD OF BLANKS

I sit here and look at a blank paper

I think of the White House occupier

Who most certainly is a big blank

I ascertain that the congress is blank

There are many things that could be done

Things that should be done to remove

Ourselves from the utter chaos we are in

The blanks will not move on anything worthwhile

The blanks control the occupier and congress

They ignore the open border

They ignore the closed pipelines, exploration

For oil and gas and the fate of soldiers

They watched as the Afghanistan

Withdrawal was bundled and soldiers died

They mishandle the epidemic of the China Virus

They standby as two people die each day

Because they are using drugs contaminated

With fentanyl.  They sit still as gas and

Energy prices double and food costs increase

They do nothing expeditiously which will

Improve the back up of ships loaded

With goods on the West coast.  They

Ignore the shortages of baby food

They ask repeatedly for our money for

Their reelection.  They are condescending

When we do not respond, trying to make

Us feel guilty when they should feel guilty

For not doing their jobs.  They have forgotten

The covenant they make with their constituents

They are begging Communist Countries

To supply us with our energy needs

We were the number one power in the world

Now it is doubtful that we are in the top ten

Our children are learning propaganda

They know the two genders and are

Trying to get a grip on the several

Others which are being proposed

The powers to be blanks are not keeping

Our school safe and lives are being lost

The blanks have allowed our cities to be

Burned and vandalized at will.  When

Will we fill in the blanks?

A LITTLE TITLE

Everyone can see the letters

Indication of some importance

To the person bearing the code

Registered nurse, Practical nurse

Doctor and a fellow

A Reverend with a Doctorate in Philosophy

You can hear these titles bantered

By others seeking also to attain

The lofted position of authority

All riding on the same train

A train leading to somewhere

Where all will receive their fame

Then back to the real world

Where action speaks louder than words

Those who have no action

Just speak louder, how absurd

A point is made in deference

To the titled one and when given

Their imprimatur becomes the rule of the land

How grand!  Reliance on a title to sustain

What may not be true.  Some wear their titles

Well, but have no clue when it comes to the truth

Where are the champions to point this out to us?

Why get swept into a movement predicated by

One who is a bust.  Reliance on opinions by

The men (and women) with the degrees defies

The need to search for our own truth with lust.

Lies are a dime a dozen and lead us down the drain

Listen to the funeral bells and the mourning and

Know you are in the process of losing your dream.

THEY SENT A SPRUCE TREE

I am not a tree hugger, but

I have nothing against trees

I really like them and know

The importance of their being

People get up in arms when

The county announces that

A road is going to be widened

Some trees will have to be

Removed in order to do a

Good job that will last

Outrage occurs, but the trees

Are felled and the road improved

There are still trees on both

Sides of the road and the

Visuals have greatly improved

The trees cut were not the only

Trees and those beyond can

Now be seen.  They look nice,

Are uplifting and all the fuss

Was for nothing.  This is life

I sent a donation to a conservation

Group and they sent me a

Spruce tree to plant to help

Save the earth.  I will be long gone

Before it grows large enough

To add character to my landscape

Or shade to cool in the summer

It was a nice gesture and I will

Find a good place to plant it

In a way that it will not block

The beautiful views but still

Perform its duties as it grows

Just another thing on my list

But it makes me happy

Because I am doing it for my

Own pleasure and not to

Gain the reputation of being

A nice guy who cares about

The chance that climate change,

(It is always changing), will

End life as we know it

A WORLD I NEVER MADE

The zones: A, B, C, D, E and so on

Each with a few departure gates

Calls for passengers ongoing

All over the airport

Passports not needed

If not leaving the country

There are categories of passengers

Sky priority is one of them, also

Diamond, Gold, and Platinum medallion

Then the zone people; several zones

Isn’t life complicated enough?

People walking in every direction

Pulling their luggage

Hanging on to children

Some have cords in their ears

Others, rings in their noses

Some turn around

Others keep going

Almost a dream

A world I never made

Man rules that make no sense

Overbooked; offer $400.00

Plus a hotel if you wait until tomorrow

An earlier flight to the same place

Had two vacant seats, but

To board you had to pay $70.00

Unless you were in some elite category

That is life at the airport

We are now boarding

All the lame and those needing assistance

Please come forward

And on and on

99 CENTS

Can I tell you something?

I mean no insult

The upper class is what I am

So second-hand

Means not much to me

It doesn’t matter who gives it

Or what it is or even if

It looks good on me or

Only costs 99 cents

Please, take it yourself

I can’t

I hope you understand

Yes, I do

It was the discovery

That was fun

After that

All downhill for me

The packing, shipping

Labeling and posting

A pain maybe royal

So thanks for mentioning

Thank you very much

What I found and selected

Was perfect (in my opinion)

For you.  I was thrilled and

Then you told me that your

People looked down on

Gifts that were not new

You looked me in the eye

When you told me, so I

Just want to say, “Excuse me”

It won’t happen again

THE BACK ROAD

The backway was not

The shortest route but

Was quiet and beautiful

In its own way.  Railroad

Tracks ran along the road

And beyond was a marshy

Field that ran into the base

Of a rise that wasn’t mountains

But had the look and feel of

The west but was only high

Hills.  You could hear the

Melody o the land even with

The windows rolled up

No trains were running

Along the side of us but

You could imagine one

With their loud whistle pealing

The day was beautiful with

Sunshine lighting up the field

You had to be happy and

Understand that their

Miracles of the day and

Night and it is important

To know this.  The inland sea

Lay south of the highway

The train tracks went under

The highway and the tracks

Continued for a half-mile

Before turning east

We continued and crossed

The tracks before the train

Arrived.  We could see the

Beautiful lake from there

And it was calm with small

Waves.  One could call it

Another miracle and be

Happy to be alive and

Witnessing all of nature’s gifts

AT THE END OF MAY

We like May

It is a buffer month

Takes us away from winter

Prepares us for summer

It is also called spring

Many surprises occur

Not dependable

Changes every year

Just the way it goes

We get the buds

Then the leafing out

The songbirds return

Ducks and ducklings

Hummingbirds

Weather changes

Memorial Day

But, now it is over

One more day, then

June will be busting out

Flowers will be out in abundance

Weeds and grass will

Require attention

Garden tools will be active

Trimming and cultivating

Gardens spruced up

Visual masterpieces

We are pleased, but

Tomorrow we start all over

Some days will be hot

Others cool

We can smell the breeze

Meadows are growing and

The flowering is beautiful

It is one month

July will be coming

Where did the time go?

July will give us a new start

We must use it wisely

Old man winter is lingering
