FIGURE IT OUT

I can’t remember what I did tomorrow

I just can’t remember that far ahead

Yesterday is lost and won’t reveal

Something like a Ferris wheel

Spinning in reverse, creating a thrill

First it was up and then down hill

I vacillate and then hesitate

Truth must be yours to know

Sometimes I’m lost in petroglyphs

Interpretation of years old thoughts

An amazing formula for much of the way

Then a stumble, a crack and flow

Peers looking at me for something to say

Friends this is all a mystery

More complicated than a family tree

No sense for some of this

All the effort, why did I enlist

I’m happy, I’m nosey, a busy body

A piece of the action is the real jest

Almost a taste of victory, then it got cloudy

What can I do, I re-enlist

Will work as a team to decipher this quiz

We will all raise our cups to victory

No one will claim they were the whiz

We’ll remember what we did tomorrow

Forget all about yesterday

Complications do not need to exist

Spirits of the past stir us today

STANDING UP WHEN NEEDED

We worry about poll numbers

They have no bearing on reality

Human condition is what is important

It can usually be improved, but it

Takes courage to stand and mention

How, so many good ideas are never

Known.  Those not speaking may

Be afraid of being scorned.  They

Have seen others denied the

Opportunity to express their plan

In general, but keep it secret among

A few valiant and trusted associates

Little progress is made when this

Happens, but we constantly need

To improve.  Ideas grow upon other

Ideas and growth occurs as we

Move forward, constantly trying

To make things better.  Now we have

Vehicles which drive and park themselves

Cars that run on batteries; there are

Shortcomings but gradually we remove

The kinks.  Flights into space are

Becoming more frequent because we

Have wealthy individuals willing to

Invest and take risk.  It is amazing to

Watch this type of involvement.  The

Government has the propensity to

Waste and have cost overruns

Besides making the same mistakes

To stand up may mean ridicule and

Death.  Spies needed in war efforts

Are hard to find for this reason.  We see

What must be done; stake out enemy

Positions and then get the details back

Without getting caught.  This is difficult

To do and during the British invasion of

New York, one man Nathan Hale saw the

Need to volunteer to be a spy.  He was

Caught and sentenced to die.  He was

Given a chance for final words and while

Being heckled by the British, finished his

Oratory with the immortal and inspiring

Words, “I only regret that I have but one

Life to give for my country.  He redefined

Patriotism.  We should seek his courage

THE ITCH FOR BEAUTY

THE ITCH FOR REALITY

This is the information age

Where do we go for it?

Many use devises

Local (fake) newspapers

The internet which is

Only 90% fake news

Radio is a possibility

Not always convenient

We communicate

Without speaking

Shop on line; few stores

Do not touch money

Make friends on line

Entertain with devices

Detached from the physical

But crave it as never before

Handshakes and hugs are

In the process of vanishing

We still seek connections

With real touch and feel

Who make the objects we desire?

How can we embrace them?

Reflect on their methods of using

Natural or found materials

We need connections

They are found in art

In the way we decorate

Imitate artistic trends

In our lifestyles and

Sometime soon, we hope

In our return to how it was

When personal was tangible

CYCLICALITY

We have been given so much in this country

It did not come to us for free

We fought for territory; explored; acquired more

Endured the Revolution; slavery and the Civil War

Pioneers moved westward and conquered the soil

Suffered hardships, deaths, but continued

Farmers maintained; became our heroes

We engaged in many wars, losing precious treasure

Liberating people in other countries from tyranny

We were vigilant and pursued peace

Our country and population expanded

Factories were built and economy grew

Communications advanced from letters and telegraph

To online 24/7 and media overload

While good things were advancing, evil lurked

Contentment, privilege and luxury

Forgetting to look out for each other

We lost our way and connection with our heroes

Did not pay attention to what was our destiny

Are waking up now to the wonders of this land of the free

MORNING SUN

Morning sun

So promising

A walk to the porch

Was quite tempting

Check temperature

Only thirty-five degrees

About to pray

I should drop to my knees

It is ten o’clock

The middle of May

Winter’s season

Seems here to stay

I am in possession of attitude

If I wanted to use it as a power

I could change this with attitude

But then that would be rude

Having power is good

Using it discreetly is important

I could eliminate things

Like drinking and snorting

But it is not my area

It could have been

But it’s just not me

If possible someone else can

I get up early

Good weather or dreary

Think of condition

It makes me weary

Wealth is not power

Just a step toward power

And it will not last

Like no matter the flower

I am far removed

From that dreaded endearment

Just able to drive around

And of course pay my rent

My power is attitude

As I have claimed before

Must handle it carefully or

Wind up on the floor

I listen to the people

They are unsettled

I must be cautious

Do not want them rattled

Where is the weather

I hear their call

I’ve given them winter, but they

Want spring, summer and fall

Back on my knees

I say I’ll pray

They want action

That’s all they’ll say

I could do it

If only I’d stay

But I vacate the scene

It’s not my play

If you ever heard what Red Skelton said in his final performance, you’d understand why so many still hold him close to their hearts. That night in Atlanta, the legendary clown gave the world one last show—full of laughter, nostalgia, and unexpected heartbreak. He brought back his most beloved characters—Freddie the Freeloader, the silly seagulls, and more—each one greeted like an old friend. The room was alive with joy, as it had been so many times before. But near the end, something changed.

With about fifteen minutes left, Red gently paused. He stepped forward and held Freddie’s tattered brown hat in his hands. The audience grew quiet. For a moment, he wasn’t a performer. He was a man with something urgent to say. In a soft, steady voice, Red spoke about how comedy had changed. He spoke with sadness, not bitterness. He said comedy was once gentle—meant to lift people, not tear them down. He grieved how laughter had lost its innocence.

That night, Red Skelton didn’t ask for applause—he made a plea. A plea to hold onto what he called “clean comedy.” The kind that didn’t rely on cruelty or shock to get a laugh. The kind he had devoted his entire life to. His voice broke slightly as he said it: we must protect that kind of laughter. We must never forget how to be kind and still be funny. It was a call not just to his audience, but to future generations of entertainers.

As the curtain fell, Red bowed his head—not just as Freddie, or as a clown, but as a man who had carried a torch for something rare and beautiful. His last words on that stage weren’t a joke, but a gift. A reminder that laughter, when done with love, can heal hearts. And that true comedy—the kind that respects both the performer and the audience—is never out of style.

AGGRESSIVE BLOWHARDS

They are aggressive and persistent

Bringing forth the accusations

Against the current occupant

The more he accomplishes, the

More hatred of him surfaces.

These people have no clue

They have no direction and

Resort to criticism and threats

These are educated people

Indoctrinated at the best universities

They applaud the Hamas and Palestinians

Burning the American flag and

Burning Minneapolis and raising money

For bails in this “peaceful” protest

They blame Trump for everything that

Doesn’t work out for them.

They applaud hostilities on the Jewish people

They do not have a path to importance

They do not criticize their own such as the

Clintons, the Obamas and the Bidens. Then

All started with nothing, now are millionaires

With several homes. No, it is Trump He will

Work to make America great, but to them

It is Trump who is the bad guy and must

Be stopped. They will do everything they can

To make this happen.
