COLD WINDS

Birds fly through the gusty wind

They are strong-willed and

Do not give up. We could

Learn from their example.

The waves in this wind are

Three and four feet tall.

It is an exciting change from

The slow, barely moving

Water of yesterday. Still

The clouds are gray. Some

Have separated to show a

Little uplifting blue.

Spring seems to be more winter

Then winter was. Yesterdays

Snow has about melted.

I am afraid that we will have

A cold, gray, wet Easter.

That is usually a bad omen.

The next seven Sundays will be

Very much like Easter Sunday.

We take what we get and hope

For the best. We can serve

Others, regardless of the weather

And no rule says

We have to feel bed.
