A day to give official thanks.
We have much to be thankful for
At the same time, we are sick in
The stomach at all the bad actors
Out there on the world stage.
The need for power and control
By some at the expense of others
Is enough to make you cry. It is
Bright from the sun in the southeast
And maybe that is a good sign.
In our own space we are praying
For peace and for those who are
Hungry and thirsty and who need
Shelter. At the same time we have
Breaking windows and doors and
Shoplifting up to one thousand
Dollars’ worth of merchandise.
If they are caught with more than
That they are booked and released.
This type of policing dampens the
Spirit of all the good citizens.
The snow has begun falling, but
Melts as soon as it hits the ground.
It is not as nice as other days we
Have found but we will take it and
Bear the weight of the cross we
Perceive us as carrying.
