CLINGING

We have questionable habits

I am not speaking of nuns

They cling to their habits and

Wear them everyday as a sign

Of their devotion to Jesus

We being a sad lot of people

Cling to ideas that take us away

From our ministry. We believe,

But cast that belief away when

We see something that we want

But don’t need. We ache for it and

Are not at peace until we get ot

In the meantime, we ignore pleas for

Help and pay no attention to the

Needs of the souls on the fringe

Who need food, water, shelter and

Care. We acquired what we wanted

By ignoring what we were pledged to do

We have no remorse until we have a

Need that seems insurmountable and

Then squeal because no help is coming

For us. We are foolish and remain empty

Because of our neglect. We no longer

Remember what was so important

We want to blame someone for our condition

What would the Light of light think?
