Planning for the day is easy
When you are lying in bed
You visualize all the chores
Being done in an orderly way
And somehow get excited
You can see in your mind’s eye
How everything will look
This is a thrilling experience
You cannot wait for the day
To begin. It does, though and
So does the rain. The plants
Are given a good soaking and
You start talking to yourself
Tomorrow is another day
Today I can refine my plans
I will get my tools ready
The wheelbarrow is essential
As are the rakes, edgers, and
The shovels. It will be good to
Get out there and breathe in
The fresh air as the work begins
You know where to start as
Your plans show you. You are
Full of energy as you begin
The work is really pleasurable
And before long, you hear the
Church bells ringing out the
Angelus. I stop to pray along
And am reminded that this
Work I am doing is to glorify
Him and not to seek out
Laudations for how nice it looks.
I get back to work. The edging
And throwing the sod into the
Wheelbarrow is not too exciting
But I know I am getting near the
End and all the new plants look
Lovely. I am happy and thankful.
I look around for my next project
It begins to rain, and I go in
It has been a good morning
