NINE DAYS OF GRAY

There would be more, but the sun sneaked

out for a day or two then another big storm

which is frozen in place. We have hope

however, and know this won’t last forever.

There is certainty in that. It is not clear

and easy to deal with the weather for our

own pleasure with no effort on our part,

but because it will give us a better chance

of moving on with our projects which will

serve our community or other communities

and the ultimate effect of helping others.

This approach brings us joy when we enter

into it and when it is completed. We can

then go forward with the next ambitious

project, continuing until we become weary.

The wise will rest if possible and then begin

with a fresh, renewed effort. We are alive,

by what chance we do not know, and

hopefully instilled with the need to lead

and help others by serving them and

attending to their needs while instructing

and showing them how to follow and do

the same. We all want to be like a competent,

likable leader and can be one of the best

(In an unheralded way) by arousing this

impetus in others. There will be those who

are cynical but the antidote to this is to keep

on doing the right thing and while doing so

march by them to show them the thrill and

joy we derive in performing good works and

letting them see the remarkable results. It

begins with us and our realization that life

is precious and should not be wasted with

selfish interests but nurtured with goodness

for and tolerance of all those around us.

We see cities and villages led by the cynical

fall apart and decay and after a while built

back up by those whose insights are inspired

by the resolve of working for what is right for

honorable reasons. When this is done, we

have an idea of what magnificence is all about.

Nine or more days of gray will not bother us

because joy will turn them into sunshine.
