The rain stops; clouds lift
The sun is shining brightly
Waves on the lake are
Moving slowly in the midst
Of a slight breeze
Gaggles of geese and
Families of ducks swim
Near the shore, diving
For fish they hope will
Be swimming by. Birds
Are singing, hummingbirds
Are fighting for control of
Their feeder. Four-legged
Animals are foraging for
Food in the forest
Another day in our lives
We examine our goals
Find that everything is
Not clear. We have to think
Meditate and act. So many
Times we wait for others
To take action while they
Honor us by waiting for
Us to begin today’s journey
Will someone step up?
There is much to do and
Many excuses to standstill
Life is a miracle we do not
Realize. It is limited. Each moment is a
Gift and has potential which
We are comfortable in ignoring
We have forgotten yesterday’s
Storm, thunder, and lightning
We think about tomorrow and
What we will do then. The
Present opportunities are
Ignored in hopes that something
Better will present. We waste
Beauty, day and night and so not
Realize our limitations and destiny
We will soon see as the hourglass
Begins to empty. Then we will long
For time.
