THE SUN SHINES THROUGH

Lake water near the shore

Was like a plate of glass

Further out, but still insight

Small waves, waved like grass

All but one day this month

Was gray and full of clouds

There was some lightning

And once a thunder that was loud

Our moon craters were gone

Mild weather caused them to melt

The dippers at the creeks were happy

They could go after the smelt

One day, long ago, we had

Twenty-nine days without sun

It was in November – Thanksgiving time

People were down – having no fun

Then on the last day of the month

Much to our surprise – the sun

Came out and stayed out all-day

We had to shield our eyes

The beauty of nature is that you

Wait and wait, but never know

Why does it wait and wait before

Putting on such a lovely show
