Denials

Trials

The truth remains, too

White conquers blue

Stories of rue

Coming from who

No more tension

Invention

Retaliation

With intention

All will be good

As it should

BASKETBALL COURT

Many years ago, in Ada, at our home, we decided to put in a concrete basketball court.  This required a substantial amount of work in the clearing of the area and the leveling off of the land.  I was working on this and heard a car pull up.  It was my son, Dan, and three of his friends.  Thank God I thought.  Help is on its way.  They looked at what I was doing and thought the 40 by 25-foot pad would make a great court.  I was thinking about what tools to provide them with when they announced that they were going to play golf.  I felt let down but decided to give them the money for the greens fees.  They thanked me, complimented me on my work, and headed out.  The only thing I could do was laugh.  From the heights of glory to the valley of despair in about five minutes.  The court was finished and we had many good times on it over the years.

In the morning

When I get up

I am full of energy

Feel so young

And can’t wait

To get the day started

It always starts

I can depend on that

In the evening

When I return home

After my day’s work

I am tired and whipped

I feel like an old man

Need young people

To cheer me up

Get ready for tomorrow

There are new mountains

Everyday.  I am thankful

The horizon exists

Keeps going as far

As the eye can see

I feel its energy

Borrow some for now

Will repay during the day

When the facts of the “Hunter”

Came forward into the media’s view

They were hidden by the really fake news

The media is a coordinated crew

The truth was kept silent

Smothered for a week or two

Most of the citizens voting

Found out too late that they were fooled

Why did the press do this?

Could they not anticipate?

The New Green Deal will fail

Our country will dilapidate

Joe was under pressure

Too many had the goods on him

You can lie and cheat and threaten

Hurting both foe and friend

How did Hunter do this without

The approval of the “Joe”?

Perseverance; grit; hustle;

Overcoming adversity;

Innate genius?  His dad,

The Big Guy said he was

The smartest person he knew

Luck?  Or the priceless connection

With his father, then vice-president

What was his goal?

He was not an extraordinary entrepreneur

Didn’t have the fire in his eyes

Didn’t possess the ferocity of speech and action

Which was the manifestation of seriousness

He promised what he hoped he could deliver

He was the only one who could accomplish this

It was bestowed upon him be a higher power

He had to upend years of entrenched interests

The actions of a man without a soul

A man in denial even after being caught

Who has caused much upheaval

Helped make the earth an unsafe place

Tells lies without flinching

May God have mercy on his soul

We have a plan

Then put it off

Nothing gets done

We feel real bad

Then the new green deal

To save the earth

Does Almighty God know?

Will He make it worse?

He gave us free will

Also a calming pill

We will be alright

No need for fright

Man does not supersede God

Not part of our plight

We have the tendency to dream

Take ourselves seriously

Life includes all the facts

God, thank God, is merciful

Information from all angels

Leaves so many confused

First, you are up; then you are down

Like a normal person abused

Information no longer controlled

Facts are known as they appear

Truth can no longer be hidden

Predictions not to be feared

Brilliant minds operate

Like birds of a feather

Will bring us closer to God

You know the answer

But you don’t like it

Heard it before, but

It doesn’t seem to fit

You keep on wandering

Looking for a place to settle

Volunteer to ring the bells

At the Salvation Army kettle

You were kind and people

Bought into you

Everyone gave except

For a very few

No need to judge them

We don’t know what

They do privately

Maybe they donate

The fruits of their success

To groups not know

To you or to me

Jesus never said to advertise

But to help those on the fringes

When we splurge on ourselves

We should double down and

Give to those in need

Give not until it hurts

But until it feels good

Feeling good about what you are

Doing is priceless.  It beats misery

We should be consistent, making

Our giving an important part of life

The same help, over and over,

Is not boring but exciting

Others will depend on us

This will be exciting and

Also what we should be doing

Now the answer is tolerable

We look forward to helping

And giving of ourselves to others

Everything is fitting and feeling good

We walk to the sink and turn on the faucet

Out pours cold or hot water

Sometimes we have to wait for a half-minute

If we want really hot water

Such an inconvenience

I received a letter from a mother in Haiti

She has to traverse two miles of rough terrain

To get to a small stream to fill her container

Then two miles back to her “dwelling”

She boils the water and then adds grass

And weeds to make a soup for her three

Children suffering from malnutrition

She prays that they will sleep in the

Lean-to shack she has made with the

Remnants of her last home, ruined by

The hurricane.  An adult could not stand

Up in the three-sided hut.  She has to watch

For spiders and snakes, let alone mosquitoes.

She has deep faith in Jesus and prays to Him

Often, thanking Him for all He has provided

She is sincere and puts to shame those of us

Who have so much and take it all for granted

We seldom take the time to thank our Jesus

Haiti is one of the fringes that we were

Instructed to go, to take care of those in need

We should be focusing on this and supporting

The Haitians with food, clothing, and money

We spend needlessly to decorate our churches

Children could be making all the decorations we need

Our unspent money would be sent to Haiti and

Other places described by Jesus’s words fringe

Which gifts would help relieve the misery

Time to turn the water off and be sure to give thanks

We enclose space and

Then live within it

Happy and content

Others look and try to

Copy the efforts made

Hoping to come up with something

That can vaguely compare

Architecture is the highest form of art

The components going into a building

Are mostly air, just like spaces

Within stones and rocks

Hard to wrap our minds around this

It is not mystical but reality

We don’t know where the energy

From the thunder and lightning

Transfers to but it is not lost

A seagull floats into the wind

This is an effortless move

How many days or years would

It take to drive to the closest star?

While we amble around, tiny

Invisible specimens of life

Which we cannot see are alive

All about us with a keen purpose

Which we lack in our lives

The branches are waving,

The waves are rolling, but

Who has seen the wind?

A solid dark mass in the far sky

Breaks up and four blackbirds emerge

Where are they going flying as

They do over the vast body of water

They are graceful and continue until

Their energy is exhausted

Then what, we wonder

We could study, but so many theories

Are farfetched and strangers to what is

Deep thinkers are praised but often

Know less than a child who can find

Order in building blocks

We accomplish but are lazy

This is the truth of what is

So many times we feel guilty

That we have shortchanged

Someone on the gifts we give

We should rethink this dilemma

Many gifts are opened, smiled at

And then set down and forgotten

We should strive to give someone

Something they need and will use

And cherish it for as long as they have it

It is not the number of gifts that matter

But rather the need and how they will

Be received and appreciated

This is difficult with young children, but

There is no better time to start

This also teaches value and sincerity

People like to give plants to their churches

The alters and sanctuaries are full of plants

at the important holiday seasons

They all must be cared for if they are to last

A whole lot of money is spent on these plants

And, in truth, as nice as the plants look, we

Do not need as many as are brought in

The money could be used to help those on

The fringes as Jesus taught us to do

A few seasonal plants would do and the

Knowing that we are helping others would

Be far more valuable to us than the glut of flowers

What are the green freaks thinking?

The cost of keeping the wind turbines running and

the cleanup of worn parts when measured in barrels of oil is a wash. 

Carbon Dioxide is a fertilizer.  Trees use it and give back clean oxygen

which sustains life.  Where is the chatter about this? 

It is a worse cover-up than Hunter Biden’s laptop. 

Why did we open our border, which was closed two years ago? 

The costs steal from our military and are turning us into

a second-class nation, a laughing stock. 

Why do we have the United Nations with

countries guilty of genocide in charge of Human Rights? 

Ukraine’s are going down, but at least they are going down swinging. 

They are the breadbox of Eastern Europe. 

Who will be providing food and at what price? 

Millions are now refugees.  It is such a sad, sad situation. 

Who is Putin and will he resort to nuclear weapons. 

If he does, so will China, Iran, North Korea and finally sleepy Joe,

if he can get his mask off and knows which way to walk

after his two-step hustle move. 

We must have fair elections. 

Cheating got us Joe and look at where we are and where we went. 

The sadness is in the fact that the movement was intentional.  

We must keep our elections above board. 

This would be good for everyone even

the build-back badly crowd.  We are where we are. 

There is much work to do all across the globe.

Let us begin.
