MOON CRATERS

Looking out my window

I see the moon craters

Choppy and crumbly

Rocky and stumbling

No one is out walking

They like their skin

It is very cold

No words can describe

Why are we here

Whose idea to colonize

How long will fuel last

Will the engines start?

We are told to not worry

Very easy to say

I am one of eight

How many miles from home

Or from the earth station

What direction is up?

Are we still online?

Have we heard from Houston?

They are still celebrating

The president is happy

His first positive accomplishment

He is happy with his ice cream

We have three days here

To see how we survive

One of us is sick and the

General Doctor is stumped

The handwriting on the wall

Is not encouraging

We are down to seven

The body is shrink-wrapped

Beyond the craters is water

The sun glares in a blinding way

The dead one was the chief engineer

A rescue ship has been lifted

Houston has come to life

They can zero in on us

Save us from an ill fate

It is not over yet, but we have hope
