SOMEWHERE OVER THE LOST RAINBOW

SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW

No rainbows today

Cold, frost, continuously

A brightness stuns vision

Dark glasses and earmuffs

The day will go on until

It ends and when it does

The year will be over

A new year will begin

We will wonder again

About all of the unknown

The words were written down

That praise or condemn

And who will believe or

Look at both sides of the coin

Optimism or frustration

The rise or the fall of our nation

Watching the money flow

It is like a picture show

Without the popcorn

Unless, of course, you reply

To the countless number of

Requests stating that this

Is the very last chance if

We are going to defeat the

Enemy and no one knows

Who the enemy is although

There are more opinions

Then icy waves on the sea

And the need for everyone

Who speaks to be right

When what is being said

Is a form of initiating fright

But the thinkers know that

The answers do not lie in the

Hands of simple man, but

In the words and whispers

Of the Man from Bethlehem

He alone gives guidance and

We would do well listening

To His sacred words

Love is the answer

He said we have nothing to fear

Give of yourself to others

Involve yourself in mankind

Do these things and you will see

That everything will be fine

And if you look at the end of the day

You may see a rainbow coming your way

Happiness may be elusive

Suffering may be the mainstay

But handled by His guidelines

Joy will find its way into our lives

He bore the weight of the cross

We have some lifting to do

Keep the faith during the struggle

The most logical thing to do as

We begin anew in a new year
