BEAUTIFUL CRISP MORNING

A MEDITATION

A beautiful crisp, sunny fall day
We are happy, even knowing
The weather situation will change
And so must we as we drift away
From the responsibility we took on
That of caring and tending to those
In need of our help and encouragement
Here we are happy, forgetting that
Many are suffering on a daily basis
We are wishing for a mild winter and
An early spring as well as other
Convenient situations and things
To come our way. But now we
Are aware again and will begin
Looking for ways to serve others;
To carry the cross for good purpose

MY MEDITATION TODAY

We know betrayal and know
There is no joy when betrayed.
We may be endure it, but the
Better thing to learn is to not
Betray anyone especially those
Who were counting on me to be
And advocate. It is easy to get
Mixed up in life and then make
The wrong choices.
Help me to choose right, Jesus.
Amen.

WHAT I AM DOING NOW

I sit here at my table
Writing down all the music
That has worked into my life
Many songs just have and
Others are not my style
I imagine I affect people
In a very similar way
Some take to my style
And others stay away
Being humble I have to
Pull for the ones who
Love my words and muses
I care for the others and
Have hopes that they
Will come around to
Appreciate all I go through
To bring this special music
To my followers of which
I have more than I can count
Being on top of the game
In a consistent manner
Is not an easy task, but
I am prompted by forces
That I don’t always recognize
We all know good and when
It is absent there may be resentment
But those who harbor it forget
About forgiveness and giving
Second chances to those who
They feel are less or lower
Then the judgmental one
They are wrong of course
And do not realize that
Every note is not for everyone
The day will come when my
Work is compiled and many
Will wonder where it all came from
It came from truth and although
Some try to color, bend or deny
The truth it will all emerge the same
I have always been on the right
Side of it and this gives me comfort

FIRST SNOW

Today we were gifted
The first painting of snow
The artist did not overdue it
With oil, but left it light
Almost as if shading
The ground was covered
But the sun was active, too
Slowly the beautiful white
Vanished from the limbs
Of the evergreens and
The lawn covered with some
Leaves came to look like
It did yesterday when everyone
Doubted the prediction
Daylight savings adjustments
Affect our outlook this time of
Year as we wonder if it should
Be darker earlier or lighter later
Soon it will be dark earlier and later
We will adjust and as we receive
More and more of nature’s dustings
We will remember the rush we
Had when we witnessed the first
Life goes on and we go on many
Times not really knowing where
We become reactionary and in
The process think of something
We forgot which now seems
Important and we chase after it
Subdue it and return feeling empty
Everything will not be spontaneous
It is wise to plan to some degree
There are many things to do and
Just as nature does not forget snow
We should not overlook important
Deeds we accepted to do such as
Taking care of those on the fringes
When we do this we can accept the
Frost, the flowers and the fury of the sea
Life will be meaningful and we will
Be looking forward to each today and
Tomorrow with eagerness

A MEDITATION 11/14

The more we learn and
Try to understand the ways
Of the Creator and his Son,
The more insignificant we
Seem to become. The
One who came to die on the
Cross for the sins of the humble
Or magnificent we realize
We can do nothing close
To His good works
He forgives while we hold
Anger. He encourages while
We point out fault
We reflect on life and death
Remembering those gone before
I feel I represent them and
Look for all the goodness in
Them that I can remember
Then try to imitate and then
Meditate and give thanks for
All the forgiveness given to me

ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH FALL

I think about fall
A beautiful season
Colors distinct to every tree
fills the eyes with almost more
      than they can bear
The Tamaracks are especially beautiful
going from evergreen to light yellow,
yellow, dark yellow, golden and brown
before dropping their needles to the ground

Folks think of Vermont and the
   falling leaves of the Sycamore
Football hopes are still there for some
Others have a “wait until next year” attitude
We see happiness and letdown
when we take the time to see
Chores that have been waiting
come to mind again halfway through
      this lovely autumn

Halloween is over and a chill runs through us
Where has all the time gone and what have I done with it
It is still early November and what I hope is moonlight
turns out to be the first snow of this year
not counting of course January, February, March and April
There are those beautiful leaves and needles to clear
Painting will have to wait until the next whenever
Mowing and trimming, how foolish we are
What would we give for more time?

Snowbirds have gone, Thanksgiving is near and
we miss them, are saddened and feel isolated
Soon, heavy coats and boots will be the fashion
We will fall into a rhythm we can bear and
sunshine will be a sort of savior
Lifted up by a new beauty we begin a new march
Songbirds, forgotten, replaced soon by the music of Christmas
We will be moved with compassion to help those on the bottom
Beauty found in places we have forgotten

All is not lost, there is little distance between these emotions

ABIDING

ABIDING
There is no blame
There is no shame
But all the same
So natural, to play the game
Sometimes sad
Health so bad
No one glad
Was not a fad
When I review
Everyone knew
That we were true
We even grew
Expect revision
Justifiable decision
Life newly arisen
Release from prison
Too many miles
False smiles
Denials
Trials
Truth remains, too
Light conquers blue
Stories of rue
Coming from who
No more tension
Invention
Retaliation
With intention
All will be good
As it should
Knock on wood
That we could
We sighed
Also tried
Often cried
Accepted that
It was over
We shall abide
