This may not be a poem or a muse, but
It is a source of meaningful meditation
The poorest of us in this country live in
Luxury compared to most of the world
We are useful people and generous, too
We attempt to feed the hungry and
Help the downtrodden in our community
We give to the Salvation Army Bell Ringers
Give to the food drives at Good Neighbor
And Saint Vincent’s as well as the
Back-pack Buddies program at Zion Lutheran
It is good to do this and necessary
Our pain is nothing compared to the Hattians
In August they suffered from a 7.2 magnitude
Earthquake in an area that was home to at
Least a million beings. Many thousand lives were lost
Earlier in 2010 an earthquake killed 200,000 Hattians
Tropical storm, Grace, hit Haiti just days after the quake
What are we to do?
If we are servants dedicated to walk through the
Storm together, then we must abandon our selfish
Interests, pick up the cross and walk with Jesus
We must not neglect the suffering of the Hattians
We must give, not until it hurts, but until it feels good
Each of our blessings is a gift from God
Your gifts of money, if you choose to walk with God
Should be made to: Food for the Poor, 6401 Lyons Road,
P.O. Box 979004, Coconut Creek FL, 33097-9004
As servants of God, we should be doing this is we
Wish to do His work. These are problems on the fringe
That we were instructed to observe and act on
Let us do our part and be filled with joy
