The crimson skyline in the Southwest
Rises above the tree lined dunes and over
The gray waters of the inland sea
There is blue and white clouds joining
One thinks of the majesty of nature
Gold is the present theme as the Tamaracks
Are in their transformation from light green
To green, then yellow green, yellow, dark yellow
And then the gold just before the brown and
Then winter branches as the needles fall to the ground
We love nature and the way it keeps us humble
Early morning light flickering through the trees
Lifts our spirits and keeps us feeling grateful
There will be some cold windy, sleet filled
Bone chilling days that some will call ugly, but
The wise old man will say that it is not ugly
But beautiful, just a different kind of beauty
It is wise to remember this: Everything is not
Always handed to us on a plate. Sometimes we
Have to look for it and the beauty in nature is
One of those things. A splash of yellow leaves
On a dark curvy road is a gift. Stay aware and
Remember the roses and the bursting vegetable
Gardens as we listen to the wind and the waves
Which pound the beach in various rhythms
Whitecaps, lightning and rolling thunder should
Be as important to us as the gold we see just
Before the leaves unfold in the spring
Gifts, gifts! Some obvious and others we must
Look for, but all make up the joy of nature
