POISON FROM THE WELL

Poison from the well
Who will drink the water?
The left takes aim at
The AR-15; what is it
It is not an assault weapon
I look across the water
To the distant shore
Is this the high tide?
How far do we have to go?
The bridges are burning
What are we learning?
When everyone says it’s okay
Climbing the cliff is and arduous journey
When we get to the top
Enemies are there musing
How could you; how dare you

I don’t like poison
I don’t like your well
We don’t like control
Unnecessary regulations
Rules to stop progress
Messages from a fool or
A group of troubadours
Telling us how wrong we are
In about everything we do
Oil is not only energy
It is so much more
Zip-lock bags, everything plastic
Clothes, medications, computers,
Furniture and so much more
Still we want to kill oil
End its pipe line transportation
Shut down exploration
Rely on wind turbines
And solar panels which are
Produced in China and
Will never provide the
The energy we need

Poison from the well
Who will drink the water?
Do we have a border crisis?
Not according to some
We were near to solving
The situation, then interrupted
By a new administration
Killers, rapists, sex slaves
And deadly drugs smuggled
Causing unnecessary death
Deliberately by undoing
Working border policies

The lord works in mysterious ways
It is time for us to arise
We must stand up and
Take our country back
Reclaim our civil liberties
Let us cap the well
Providing poison water
Embrace our constitution
Do the things that matter
Respect the opposition
Let freedom for all
Be our proposition

WORDS FROM A FRIEND

I remember my friend
He loved his music
Said the “Beatles’” songs
Were worth taking a listen
Thought some could be
Church hymns – uplifting
He walked away smiling
His words has a glisten
There are many songs
By various artists
That would stand up in church
Without any protest
God gives the talent
Allows opposition
The beauty of the music
Takes its own position
“Only You” by the “Platters”
Is solemn if you point upwards
“What a wonderful world”
Especially by Louis Armstrong
One who was never a quitter
“In the Garden” – a beautiful song
Written in a basement without windows
Moves the soul and spirit
Until the light leaves us in shadows
I remember my friend
He has passed on, but
His feeling for the Love of God
Remains in these known songs

ONE FROM THE PAST

DREAMS-HOPE-LIFE
I had my hopes, however
Teenage romance and love
Had to be put on hold
Parental control was bad enough, but
College commitment would require money
Dreams were put on pause
Work, work, school, work and work
Finally it was over just like a blink
Then real work presented
Twelve hour days
Flaming embers could not be fanned
When down to the final spark
My heart was set ablaze
Ten years and six children later
I could finally rein in the galloping horse
True love settled me into a workable groove
My main job was to provide:
      Frankie
      Ella
      Wine
      Hot bath water
This was real life
Making someone happy
Could everything be this easy?
No! There is always opposition, unless
You have the right partner and
I had the best, at least for me
We danced through life
Enjoyed the music
Found the beauty about us
Taught our family
Did our job with love
The angels came too early
Took her away
They left me alone
No children at home
Just music to play
Must save for another day
When my spirit grows, and
I hear people say it glows
Then the wine may flow, but
I’ll remember: She was not for show
Knew what she wanted and
She wanted me
