MOON DREAMS

It is early on a Saturday morning
Just a little after five
The moon is bright in
A cloudless sky, but its
Light is baffled by tall pine trees
I think about this same moon
Rising so spectacularly from
The lakes horizon just a few
Days ago and can picture it
Vividly in my mind

I have just woken from a dream
I had wandered into an old store
Which was selling a few snack items
I noticed a few customers looking
A several pieces of art hanging
On the walls of the building
I talked to the owner about the art
The artist, still living, was prolific
His work was abstract realism

I heard murmurs from the customers
Saying they would like to buy
This piece or that, seemingly liking
Every piece they saw
The owner took me into the backroom
Stacks of art by this artist were
Piled on tables, with some hanging
On the surrounding walls
This was the first showing
I was completely intrigued

I inquired about the prices
There was a hurry to sell the work
Which had been done in recent years
The artist was moving on without
Desiring to take the art with him
We settled on a price for the lot
I wrote a check and was the owner
Customers inquired about the
Pieces they desired to buy

I agreed to sell to them at
Escalated prices and sold enough
To cover my purchase costs
I exchanged their payments for
The check I had written and
Made arrangements to pick
Up the rest of the work later
That day which was fine

I needed to find a museum
To show the work for about a month
In the process I came across
Another collection being reduced
For a quick sale and bought it
A local museum of contemporary art
Gladly took the work
It would all be for sale and
They would harvest a commission

I selected ten pieces from each
Collection to keep for myself
They would be in the show,
And marked not for sale
It was difficult to choose
But I managed to select
With a little glee as there
Were no bad works

The museum prospered
The show sold out and
Received rave notices in the press
I had delved into the unknown and
Came out smelling like a rose
It is amazing how things work out
Dreamland is a wonderful place
It is warm and soothing
Reality can be cold and harsh

GULLIVER MYSTIC

I travel sometimes, down the dirt road
to the place where it crosses Gulliver Creek
Changing seasons paint canvases with
minor miracles leaving me feeling meek
Beauty can be overwhelming
Creation made this a special place withs
shadows and light changing feelings
Whispers of agreement is sung by
flowing water throughout the year

Now it is warm and easy to see that
others have been here before me
Light slants through leaf-covered limbs and
reflects spectacularly off the mirror-like pond
I long to hear the voice of God
He must be here
Proof to satisfy me is all about
Now and whenever I’m here

I hold this place dear, although
God’s face cannot be seen
The grace you feel is real
Enchantment is another word
An episode in the surreal
The place where I find peace and joy
A chapel in the woods
His love bestowed on all

WHEN IT IS OVER WE WILL GIVE THANKS

Black lives matter
to most everyone
But the Marxist group
Black Lives Matter
which is completely
different is using this
time to break down
our country and
turn it Socialist

The Group has received
Money form the Covid-19
relief funds in the
multiple thousands

There are local bureaucrats
and local tyrants who’ve
been strangling our economy
and ruining lives, even trying
to stop schools from opening

They know the dynamics of
taking this action
It will anger parents,
and frustrate children
Take away one good meal
that each child is receiving

Most normal teachers will
agree with this, as well as
all of the Pediatricians

People are fed up
with the government
for taking their jobs,
ruining their businesses,
and of course taking
education away

Liberty-loving citizens
know what is going on
They can see through
the efforts of Antifa and
the anarchists trying to
ruin the country

They would like to keep
the destruction going and
the children from school
until after the election
in November
They hate this President
As they hate the country

All the good we have
done is forgotten
All of the lives given
for our freedom ignored

Because of ignorant followers
the destruction of statues
is cheered and encouraged
The Marxists do not care
about people but care
only about destroying
our system of Government
They are for equal misery

The politicians in D.C. had
better wake up if it is not
already too late
The radical left and
the statists on the right
want to stifle the voices
of freedom and liberty

Open our schools
Get back to work
Stop America from crashing

The China Virus is
no longer the problem
It is the Swamp and
the Marxists who show up
wherever discord looms
Their intentions are not
good and they must be
defeated

THESE ARE THE DAYS MY FRIEND

I lay in bed
It is early
Outside it is gray
And very cool
No wind or waves
Just a stillness

I hear a few birds
I can see dew
And spider webs
I see new growth
And winter burn

I think about condition
Man’s efforts and
Try to get my mind
To grasp it all

I think of men
In recent times:
   Frederick Douglass
   Abraham Lincoln
They knew the problems
The difficult solutions
Efforts of positivity
Results of failure

I think of rust, drought,
Floods, earthquakes,
Hurricanes and volcanoes
Then mold, rot, rodent and
Insect infestations
Questionable infrastructure
Incompetence
Nepotism and bribery
Failing leaders

A tall pine tree
Next to a sapling
Both destined to fall

The richness of security
Laid alongside of
The need for food,
Shelter and water

Mothers caring for children
Dying of malnutrition
Distances traveled for
Potable water
Day after day until
Death relieves the obligation
Leaving it for someone new
While those in luxury
Go about in their splendor
Grumbling about inconvenience
Never thinking about
The South China Sea, Hong Kong
Tehran, Pyongyang, Moscow,
Damascus, and Beijing

Poets wrote;
   Walt Whitman
   Carl Sandburg
   Ralph Waldo Emerson
Problems and solutions
Isolation and involvement
So many people
So many muses
As many answers
But then the power

Who has the power?
The corrupt media
A stacked bureaucracy

I think
Germ warfare
Intellectual property
A grinning countenance
As handshakes are made
Evil intentions
Overlooked by the imprudent

The slow chinking away
Of virtue and responsibility

A mist comes up from the lake
The chipmunks are scampering
Chattering; looking for food
A bird cries out
There is no answer
Life resumes as if
It had stopped
It hadn’t

Wise men have answers
Spell them out in books
They are given no exposure
Journalism is dead

Our media carries water
For the agenda drivers
Christians are slaughtered
Turkey attempts genocide
On the Armenians again
History repeated
We hear nothing

Muslims neck-chained
By the thousands in
Mainland China
Arabs implicit in their
Attacks on Israel

The World Health Organization
Working for China
The travesty of the United Nations

Great minds are silent
Or not heard

We pray without acting
Are quick to blame

Answers are apparent
But power is difficult to give up

We linger with hope
For resolution

PEACE AND HARMONY

We would love
peace and harmony
to return to our
great country
But we have
hate and violence

Paid haters who
despise America and
continue with terror
resulting in the deaths
of beautiful black children
playing with others
or visiting their relatives

The anarchists hate
transformation and
the President’s promises
meant to transform
the country to the better,
including opportunity zones
cannot be tolerated by
these paid criminals
So they murder, burn,
destroy and loot

They promote hatred
A win at all costs motto
And the media is compliant
Patriotic statues are destroyed
Mob violence permeates
anything sacred and
the media does not cover
but attempts to cover up
the despicable acts while
quietly cheering them on

Our president has elevated
everyone in the country
even while under duress
and investigation
He has fulfilled promises and
improved the conditions
neglected by politicians
for many years
and by many administrations
The media does not report
They are in step with
these paid haters of this country

Until this changes
it will be a while
before we become theff
famous city on a hill
where peace and
prosperity reign
It will be a while
before we walk proudly
knowing that a good life
is important for all
and the crown princes
of evil are subdued and
quieted forever

This is a country where
people of all races and genders
fought and died to save
and provide liberty for all
as well as a chance
for everyone to prosper

We must be willing to
fight the left who want
to change our constitution
and our schools, while
removing opportunity
and in these acts insure
that everyone exists in
an equal state of misery

AS THE WORLD TURNS

Break down in trust
The world around
Dictators oppressive
Liberty smothered
Or vanquished as
Human and natural
Disasters encroach
Time after time
On what we thought
Could have been
An enduring, peaceful
World of joy

The need for power
Brings the annexation
Of human rights
And slowly evolves
Into equal misery
Because growth progress
Cannot be sustained
When freedom is crushed
This has been proven
Time after time and
We never learn, because
Power is so enticing

We prefer war to peace
And the spoils can
Never be sorted so
The process begins again
We cringe with the knowledge
Harbor resentment at
The leaders of the world,
Both civilian and religious

We sit in wonder
Look at the sky
See “shooting stars”
Know that a sun flare
Could destroy us all
But this night the
Moon rises above
The horizon of a
Calm blue lake
And the beauty is
Overwhelming as the
Colors change with the
Setting sun and finally
It is just the moon
And it’s long reflection on
The water’s surface

In a while, a short,
Brief period,
It will be gone
As will we all
There will be
No going back
To do it again
To try making it right
Our time is now
And fools that we are
Will do nothing

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Cold October winds
Blew away colored leaves
Left us with early snow
This was not anticipated

Halloween was wet with rain
Thanksgiving and Black Friday
Greeted us with doldrums
Christmas and New Years
Were less enchanting and
Without the usual spirit

January snowed as the
President was impeached and
Mocked for his concern about
The deadly Wuhan Virus

February, cold and snow
Valentine’s Day lost its heart

Facial masks and social distancing
Non-essential businesses
Closed down by fiat

March came in and left as a lion
April showers were white
A lovely backdrop for early flowers
May was full of promises
But snow fell as depression rose
People were dying of the virus

June began with snow and ended
With fire, destruction and looting
By paid anarchists, who led and
Encouraged the foolish followers

Businesses were opening under
Strict conditions as July presented
Our first heat wave in years

There was a modicum of hope
Even though the realization existed
That certain people hate this country
And also the President who had
Kept most of his campaign promises

He had led while under constant attack
He had underestimated the depth of
The Swamp he was trying to drain
He had enemies on both sides of the aisle

Still, while being investigated for three years
Managed to work on building the wall
Promised to President Reagan and
Supported by everyone at one time or
Another, but not now as funding was cut

He improved condition for everyone
Lowered taxes and ended regulations
Our soldiers were taken care of and
The Military rebuilt expeditiously
He protected our military personnel
Keeping them out of harm’s way
He had two major terrorist leaders killed

We became energy independent
Interest was low, unemployment low
And inflation low and the country was
Prospering as never before and then
He was abused by the media again as
The China Virus killed many of us
And shut down the country

He persevered and did all things
Possible to help hospitals and
Front line responders
This pandemic was vicious and costly

One of the founders of Green Peace
When it seemed no one was listening
Declared that the climate change agenda
Was all a hoax perpetrated on those
Who so easily and willingly believed
The media, of course, failed to report

We celebrate this Independence Day
With visions of statues being
Torn down by the ignorant led on by
Paid conspirators who provided us
With the cold winds of sadness

Contentment and containment
Are a long way away, but in the end
This nation, under God, will prevail

We ask for His blessing on us and on
All the people of the world who are
Being suppressed by vicious dictators
And abused by incompetent leaders

We pray for those tormented by
Hunger, lack of water, locust infestations
And natural disasters in magnitudes
We can only imagine

FOURTH OF JULY HOLIDAY THOUGHTS

There was the day
Not that long ago
When LSD was thing
Timothy Leary proclaimed it
The answer to human kind
The end of all unrest
He may have known it best
But another war insisted
And with that more protest

Violence witnessed and
Questions of why and
No one had the answers
Our soldiers were dying
To stop the flow of Communism
Which would eventually expire
Because it never works forever
Medics looked at the wounded
Knew it was hopeless and treated
Them with a snort of whiskey
And a prayer as they expired

It would not be the last time
Our warriors would be sent
To fight and win or die trying
To set free people free
Stopping oppression is not easy
It is also not a game of payoffs
We must operate from strength
Not the weakness seen in
Previous administrations
You cannot bargain with the devil

There was the day when
Journalism existed and answers
Were sought out and obtained
Today we have announcers who
Read the same lines of indoctrination
The unaware readers are satisfied
They do not recognize an agenda
The killing of enemy leaders
Is posted as dangerous and foolish

The killing of Christians is not
A focus of today’s media
We hear nothing of the starvation
Of adults in Nigeria and the deaths
Of infants there, at the rate of 18 each day
We hear nothing of the encampment
Of millions in China or the attacks
On the Jews by the Arabs

The media is silent and the voices of old
Proclaiming the Greatest Generation
Remain silent unless they can defame
The one who is making a difference
Beautiful statues, reminding us of
The past are being destroyed by paid
Anarchists and their followers
They are ignorant of the meaning and
Follow the orders to destroy, burn,
Loot and terrorize fellow Americans

We are suffering all the ramifications of
The Wuhan Virus and the information
On what to do and why changes daily
It is a different world and when we should
Be celebrating this Fourth of July we are
Walking about in a depressed condition,
Wondering why all of this is happening
We have collectively walked away
From the One who offers His hand
We are gambling on the absurd and
The odds are not in our favor

There will be the day when we wake up
March in a parade with our head held high
Waving the flag that so many died to preserve
Stepping proudly to the music of
John Philip Sousa and be a happy nation again

CAN YOU SEE

I look out on a starless night
Thinking of red and white stripes
Knowing that there are those
Who will kneel and set fire
To this flag of freedom
With its field of blue stars

People around the world are
Crying to get to our shores
They want to follow the rules
And work hard and be proud

People here, led and paid, are
Attempting to destroy this
Wonderful home of opportunity
They are told that evil exists in
Symbols of the past and in
Elements of today’s society

They do not know history and
It would not matter if they did
They have been indoctrinated
Truth cannot dissuade them

Dark money has spoken and
They and many leaders are not
About to back down now so
They collect as anarchists to
Destroy, loot and set fire
Injuring their own in the process
As well as the innocent who
No longer have lives to live

The environmental leaders
One by one are coming forward
Announcing that the climate
Charade was nothing but a hoax
Many do not wish to believe this

The anarchists want some
Perfect society where everything
Is free and in abundance

When they are finally broken up
And sent home or arrested we see
The evidence of how they might live
There are trucks of their garbage
Being hauled away by workers
Gallons of water used to clean streets and
Remove graffiti and obscenities

Buildings to tear down and rebuild
Broken glass picked up windows replaced
Why would anyone want this?

There is no free lunch and the chance
For work is everywhere
The lowly can advance; they have to be told
It is up to them to improve their condition

Destroying property will not do it
It takes hard work and learning
The family unit is imperative
Good schools are needed
Honest leaders are a must

We must work together as we remember
That this is one nation, under God
The God, Who endowed us with certain
Inalienable rights, among which are life,
Liberty and the pursuit of happiness

Men and women died to protect us and
Keep these rights viable
The ones trying to destroy this country
Must be held to account or
The dreams of many will vanish

We are a strong people and will come together
To ensure that with the help of God
This republic of the people, for the people and
By the people will not vanish from this earth

HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU HAVE

It is so true
How we put things off
And come up with reasons
Why they can wait
But then we think
How many lives can we have?
As many as we like
Best we begin to engage

Do we want a narrow trail
Where we have much control?
Or an eight lane highway
Where anything can happen
We must not confine ourselves
Every hour will bring new things
We become part of everyone we meet
So much better than remaining in a closet

Sometimes fear of rejection keeps us quiet
Our thinking becomes just of ourselves
Others face the same tribulations
May be waiting for our call
Bring joy with you as you tread
Do not be afraid of consequence
Growth comes through adventure
Failure makes us stronger

Isolation leaves you lonely
We need the belonging
Hesitation must be overcome
Excitement becomes a middle-name
We may know what we want and search
Feel fortunate when and if we find it
Wipe out the suffering we brought on ourselves
Fill in the last block of our life

We reflect as we grow
Never too late to begin
Correct mistakes of the past
Feel free at last
We are settled from all fear
Wish we had started sooner
Cannot change the past, but have
The present, today, to use
