THE IDES OF MARCH

What happened?
March and April are gone
May is here and still
There is no song
No song to sing
That will lift us up
Until we survive this thing

Being treated like pups
Swamp people declare
New information daily
Nomenclature of death
Changes by decree
Stay socially distanced
Until we cannot see
How long does the virus live
Does it vary depending?
And worse than the flu?

People are ready to
Tear down all barriers
Follow simple, logical rules
Get back to work
Stir the economy
Safe guard who we can
But people die every day
From accidents to heart attacks
Does it matter which way
We hate to lose anyone
But this is life

Time to jump back in
Back on the tracks
We all have our battles
Illegals too
They must go back
See what they can do
To improve the degree
Of their own condition

Our people, too
You just can’t send money
We must control it
To the last penny, then
Economies will improve
People can stand alone
Dictators need eradication
Citizens need a safe home

The heart and mind must
Exist side by side
Decisions made then are just
Have merit and will last
Critics shrink back as
Truth makes a stand
Preparation is the goal
Safeguard this land
Be ready and willing
Bring out the band

Generations before us
Suffered through their pain
Food lines, depressions and war
They survived as can we
Let us unleash our instincts
In a law-abiding way
We are the people
Give us our say
Not foolish, but headstrong
Get out of the way

MAKING IT THROUGH AGAIN

The days are long and gray
Clouds blur into one
The sun has been a stranger
It is the norm
We are in isolation
Everyday another week is added
Opinions vary each day
These are the experts

Credit is given to first responders
Deaths are mislabeled as to the reason
A heart attack is not a virus death
The public is being fooled
Corruption is about us
It has no bounds
Power and control

The bureaucrats love
Ordering us around as “swamp dwellers”
The mainstream media lies about the President and
Praises Peter Strzok.  They are the media swamp
Then the coronavirus and the professional scientists
Who scare us with their opinions which change daily

They are the medical swamp dwellers
They too love attention and power
They are part of the bureaucracy
The numbers they gave the President were misleading
Their projections about the virus have been baseless

Dying with the virus is not the same as dying because of it
The computer projections have been wildly inaccurate
The projections stink.  They are garbage as are the numbers
Given to the President by the medical swamp

Then the media swamp jumps in and
Their members hate President Trump
They were motivated to exaggerate the pandemic
Claim that he was managing the crisis poorly
Now the economic disaster we are in the middle of enduring
Was caused by two swamps:  the medical swamp and the media swamp
And for good measure the Democrats jumped on board as well

If we can get the economy to reopen we can recover lost jobs
And limit the power of the swamp dwellers
We can make it through again and continue to make America great

GONE AND FORGOTTEN

Now that I’m gone
I think of all the things
I could have and should have said
But I have feelings for others and
Did not want to be too harsh
Knowing that sugar attracts
More bees than vinegar.
On the other hand,
Now that it is over
What difference did it make?
I never liked so called
Big shots calling me fellow, especially
When I was the instigator of
The project we were working on
Stupidity has never left
An impression on me
I have never liked being
Lorded over because even though
My ideas were superior,
I did not have the authority
To make it happen
So the saplings gloat and smugly
Walk away thinking they
Have proven their point, but
In retrospect the original problem
Still exists and there is not
Another me to bail them out,
Because the door was closed
Once too often
There are many needs
And I sensed them all, but being
A wise man I knew I was capable
Of attending to only a few
Then to be frustrated in my desire
To help I had to walk away and
Operate successfully behind the scenes
Where I could help in the
Way I did without anyone knowing.
Even then there were set backs
Because the help I offered
Made them Kings and Queens
In their own eyes even though
Simpletons would be a better word

ACTUAL EXPERTS

People pose as experts
Some known as actual experts
But in their mind only as
Every utterance defies logic
Nothing good evolves unless
It pertains to them or
Their revelations
Then the world better stop
And listen and then praise
So astute, brilliant and wise
What would we do without them?

They point out perceived shortcomings
Expect complete accuracy on something new
But always ready with a counterpoint
The man has led through many battles
Still is considered weak if he should stumble
But the stumbling is part of his show
Opponents can smell a weakness
But there is no weakness
His methods are different but outsiders
Usually are and that is why they are feared
And never honored or welcome

Those posing as experts do no research
They are not investigative prone
Will accept word as it travels the grapevine
But the consequence is often sublime
They had a claim they thought was solid
It whisked away like morning vapor
And in the end there was no evidence
The witches and hags waved their flags
But all to no avail as the one they hate
Was cleared and continued to lead
While the accusers were left to eat ice cream

PEOPLE WILL REMEMBER MY LOVE

My love was not on a timer
It existed around the clock
Even in my dreams
Also when in conflict with someone
My love was there

I had hopes that they would see the light
But as you know life does not work that way
People are resolute and measured
They have their point of view and
This is a sacred thing to them, but on
Further investigation they have
No reason to insist on being right

I love them more and hold out hope for them
Yes, I tripped up now and then and
Scattered a little dust as I walked
My thoughts ran deep, as deep as my heart
Wherever I was, was brighter in my eyes
Only because I shared my love while being there

Many could not understand and never will
They do not know the equation of love
It is not a simple thing and the
Giving of oneself to others in one mind
Is not necessarily the same in another
Even though they both have given

I have been consumed with anger and
Will not deny that I have been judgmental
Out of this though came a deeper love, so
A small slip backward became a gift
It was up to me to use that gift and
I have always used it well

Some may say that I was bitter
But they refuse to see the brightness of intention
And cannot distinguish between love and frustration

I spoke of dust, but dust settles
Now I am dust and you can only remember
You will remember from midnight to midnight
You will be blessed with that good feeling

LIFE TURNED AROUND

I hung my wig, old and
Moth ridden on the wall,
Then walked to clean up
Down a long forsaken hall

Dirty and smelly, the water cold
I felt so lonely and empty, but
The rent wasn’t much at all
I sat on the throne; I was King Tut

My life, my good life passed
Right before my cloudy eyes
Tears began to well up
I thought of all the goodbyes

There was a day I could rattle chains
Cause people to stop and turn
Success after success followed me
You would think that I would learn

But power is power and
To have it is often fine, but
I wanted more and then more
Soon it was the end of the line

I was besieged by my enemies
They threw me out in the streets
I disguised myself and left town
There was no one I wanted to meet

I became a vagrant
When my money ran out
A fallen hero, unclaimed
I had lost all of my clout

I finished; returned to my room
Laid down on my musty bed
I was found there the next morning
The sad one was now dead

LEFT IS THE INCLINATION

Once one is acclaimed as outstanding
In their opinions and on what they write
Their words take on biblical proportion
Even though the truth of everything, no matter
The slant, remains the truth which cannot be altered

Hail to those who wave the flag and
Point out the plight of the polar bear,
The melting polar caps and rising sea
Science when studied in depth
Tells us a different story

No one sins by silence when they disagree
DDT when used properly is effective
When banned it has no effect and while it
Could have saved millions of lives in Africa if
It had it been used properly to kill the infected
Female anopheles mosquito which carried
The Plasmodium parasite, it wasn’t

It would have saved Jimmy Carter the need to pass out
Mosquito nets in the dire areas of that country
And receiving the glory and coverage
Given to him by the Smithsonian Magazine
Because of the lives he was saving

People were pulled in unwittingly to:
The Sierra Club, National Audubon Society,
Green Peace, World Wildlife Fund and others
And sold the idea that America is ruining the planet

Those profiting from these and other clubs
Go home at night and turn on a switch and
Have electricity available to them for heat and
Hot water along with refrigeration
They are happy people and enjoy these blessings
While being critical of those who provide it

Pollution exists now and has for as far back
As we have recorded history.  Big steps have been taken
To improve condition in our country while giving a pass
To China and India and other third world countries
Reality may be reviewed and one person is not responsible
For our vulnerability as some would like to point out

A succession of bad decisions over many years by various
Countries and administrations has allowed
The whole world to be potentially at great risk
Now one could ask who are the
Sinners by silence or the sinners by protest

Many industries have folded
Who avoided telling the obvious truth?
It was proclaimed that certain birds including
The Northern Spotted Owl needed old growth trees to breed
The lumber industry in the Pacific Northwest closed down

The same birds later were found breeding and nesting
In Target and Walmart Signs on buildings nearby but no one cared
Because truth deniers had accomplished their goal of
Shutting down a great lumber industry causing great
Harm to the area and the workers as well

The scientific worldview seemed to coincide with the aspect
Of man caused global cooling, then man caused global warming, and
Finally because of acceptable terminology manmade climate change
Scientific consensus became science for many who traveled the
Globe in private jets, but bought carbon credits to cover themselves

A former presidential candidate from Tennessee is one who
Travels the world in his private jet going to meetings on climate change
Zinc is mined on his father’s land and resulting pollution puts the
Cumberland River Valley and the Tennessee River at risk
We would like to interview him about the alternative facts
Hammered from the bedrock of reality

Muses and poets may be praised for their efforts
Truth will eventually raise its head and those
Who so wanted to be correct will find themselves
On the wrong side of the equation
The Light will overcome all darkness
