TIME TO GO

Eight o’clock light
Filters through evergreens
Casting no shadows
Brightens the snow
Trees are still
Gray clouds hold steady
In the south
A promise of more white
There is no movement
But signs of earlier searches
Animals, mostly deer
Working hard for their feed
It is cold
Eight degrees above zero
I wonder about the roads
An earlier start
Would be wise
The calm before the storm

Don’t think about reward
You have this day
Others are out there
You may see them
Sense a struggle
Offer a helping hand
It is cold for them, too
Any good deed will do
Also try to slow down
Don’t be tempted to scurry
You will miss too much of life
Just watch others in a hurry
Life is so precious
Live every moment
Doesn’t matter about shadows
Birds may not be in the air
A lonely feeling may settle
Don’t let it get you down

Be prepared now
It is time to go
