THE POET BECOMES THE MUSE

  
 The poet becomes the muse
 and has known abuse as his
 words are not received in the
 reverent way in which they were written
  
 Who is he to be telling us anything
 say the potent, who will soon be 
 the impotent and defiled
  
 Wisdom stands on its own
 Cause and effect of 
 situations and actions
 do not diminish truth
  
 Our collective ignorance is on display
 continually, in such a fashion
 that we do not need to wait for
 history to repeat itself
  
 The distorted truth 
 when repeated often enough
 becomes the truth and
 believers will distort it even more
 Soon it is unrecognizable
  
 The muse points this out and 
 is ignored or called blasphemous 
 He continues to write with hope
 that new eyes and ears
 will gather in the message and
 act quickly, to avoid the doom that lurks
  
 The muse waits and has hope for success
 which will allow for   
 lighter expressions of human good
 The muse will then become the poet
