FIVE NINES

 The courage to do
 a gift that’s true
 makes you reach
 into internal resource
 for new strength
 and clarity
 as you approach
 a sacred mission
 meant for you 
  
 And for others
 they will watch
 and pray
 new prayers for you
 each night, each day
 your mission
 underway
 some will leave
 you stay.
 
 It is not
 what you do
 or how you do
 but that it’s you
 who will see this through
 so many brave
 now in graves
 leaves you blue
 but always true    

 They will wait
 and wonder
 watching you
 through storms
 through thunder
 relentless pursuit
 avoid blunder
 ground zero
 their hero  
 
 Then home
 still the you
 that they knew
 and now know
 once again
 What it is all about
 they wonder 
 honoring you
 their faithful you
