 THERE GOES MY EVERYTHING
 The man walks off the field
 Traveling under his own power
 A big boy, in reality, six foot seven, 
 Weighing 350 pounds of muscle and fat
 He is limping, but trying not to show it
  
 There are braces and bandages 
 He is wrapped in these
 A college football player who gave his all
 Now wondering about his future in pro-ball
 Will he be sound enough by draft day?
  
 What is his stock worth in the eyes of those who count?
 Twenty years of his life dedicated to this end
 New house for mama, who has always been there for him
 Brand new shinny car for papa for all his work
 Then the possibility that this has all been for naught
  
 A career ending injury sabotages his dreams
 He can fall back on his education and 
 Become a worker, a teacher, coach, welder or builder
 One never knows in life; here today, gone tomorrow
 Shouldn’t this, especially this, be taken into consideration?
  
 We should begin our march into the adventures of life
 With advisors and mentors who will keep our emotions 
 And exuberant spirit under control, pointing out all possibilities
 So often early success casts a big stamp of disregard on wisdom
 We fly with the eagles, like there is no tomorrow, casting care aside
  
 We should prepare for alternatives, just in case
 He almost made it is not the label we want
 Must not let life’s potential slip away, when strong character
 Will allow us to face up to the realities.  We gather our positives
 Forget about depression and begin the march to new goals

 I see the road ahead
 It is straight and inviting
 Who would not wish to proceed?
 Dreams are made of conditions like these
  
 Groups of angels on each side
 Singing songs of goodness and courage
 Roses of every color lie under the elevated choir
 There are no thorns; only light and brightness
  
 One studies the bible and looks for signs
 What have we done to deserve this gift?
 There are no answers to conceive
 Only duties to contemplate and employ
  
 Life is so mysterious and beyond us
 We enter the world compromised by sin
 Like a coin, both sides may be evil
 We can rely only on the edge, a slippery slope
  
 Faith is not reserved for special occasions
 It must be deep within us and forever viable
 There is no such thing as smooth sailing forever
 We must balance everything as we move along
  
 I think of the gray rose.  It is beautiful and contemplative
 Life flows along, like a river, on this very concept
 Interrupted by risk and sometimes pettiness
 We find our balance, now ingrained, quickly
  
 Thinking back we see the straight road
 Know we are handicapped by sin
 Forgiven by the King of glory
 Crowned by our acts of goodness

 Euphoria!  Are we all not looking for it?
 Where is it that we look?
 Some find it in accomplishment, especially
 when others give acclaim to us
  
 Others look for an easier way, where
 drugs will give you inexplicable highs
 Many are in prison today, serving long
 terms of incarceration, being used as a
 deterrent to others contemplating use
  
 This method has not been effective and 
 many innocent people remain in jail
 Marijuana can be useful or dangerous,
 depending on how much is ingested and
 how the liver is functioning and how 
 the brain is in understanding consequences
  
 Our government is in denial, but could get
 involved in regulations that would safeguard the users
 No one is required to participate, but medicinally
 Cannabis is a useful drug to control pain and 
 keep people functioning
  
 There are pros and cons as always
 When we look at the crisis of illegal drugs coming
 into our country, including fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin
 it would seem the legal cannabis 
 would be a revolutionary answer
  
 Illegal according to the Federal Government,
 it is legalized in many states.
 Cash from this industry cannot be banked
 Obstacles to euphoria and medicinal use are complex
 So was prohibition

 Out through the window
 I see the weather falling
 This time in the form of snow
 Yesterday the ground was green and brown
 Today we see four to ten inches of snow
 Some are not happy
 Others find comfort
 This is winter after all
  
 On the news there is talking of’
 Working with China for a trade agreement
 This may be good in many ways
 We want our products to sell in China
 And we want to buy products from them
 They steal intellectual property and have slave labor
 Neither of these two things are good
 Both have to be brought to an end
 There is no season for stealing and slaving
  
 I listen to discussions on a border wall
 Every country has immigration laws
 Mexico’s are much stricter and more severe than ours
 There are desperate people on this earth
 Victims of dictators
 Still, we have legal entry procedures
 They are backlogged because so many want this country
 Liberals want open borders at this time
 This is a change in attitude from just a few years ago
 So it is political and not ideological.

 He kind ‘a stopped
 That is what the announcer said
 What does he mean?
  
 Did he stop or
 didn’t he stop? 
 Is there an in-between?
  
 Then the face mask call
 Was it or wasn’t it?
 Yes it was according to the officials
  
 And now we have come to 
 the end of the third quarter
 Thanks fellows, we weren’t aware
  
 These announcers so precise, so accurate
 babble on remarkably with facts
 they read off of information sheets
  
 They sound intelligent and often throw
 in an outside opinion which in a sense
 is exposing them to ridicule
  
 The reminder of what the quarterback
 was doing three weeks ago against
 some other team and bring it up
 to compare to tonight’s action
  
 “The deep ball”, “The pre-play”,
 “The slinging of the ball”
 Whatever all of this means is not
 important compared to the fact that
 it is the vernacular of the proud announcer
  
 “Now a flag is down”, “The play is coming back”
 Then a critique on an earlier call.  They know it all
 They enumerate the penalties on this drive
 They call them, these announcers

 Building monuments for those
 giving affirmation to the purported
 wrong direction this country is taking
 This is amazing 
  
 Forget about judges with agendas
 and the removing of lady justice’s blindfold
 The over ninety percent negativity of
 the main stream media
  
 Never mind the RINOs who
 openly get in the way of 
 the president’s agenda 
  
 Then just focus for a moment
 on what has been accomplished by 
 a president with determination
  
 The government is closed down at this time
 because we the people want a wall
 The millionaire leaders of the liberals
 want open borders and illegal immigrants 
 These, of course, are potential voters
  
 The liberal leaders call out the president on character
 but cannot deny that he has kept his promises
 The government will stay closed
 The opposition will be deemed responsible
  
 Money will be given and the wall will be built
 The president will be the hero
 Everyone who has lost loved ones to illegals
 Will be happy that better days lie ahead

 We speak of troubled waters and how
 advancing at this time would be futile
 It would be easy to quit; throw in the towel
  
 Looking about we see many doing the same
 There is wonder at why this is happening
 Are we not the beloved children of God?
  
 But were we ever promised an easy path?  Or were
 we warned about the heaviness of the cross?
  
 Wasn’t this the path that we chose?
 There was no hesitation when it seemed 
 nothing was at risk, but now our emotions are upset, 
 we detest our weakness and
 self-loathing pushes us to the point of self-destruction
  
 We forget about forgiveness and goodness
 Free will is a gift and we have the honor of choosing
 The question is will we choose an easy way out or
 stand firm in our convictions to build 
 a bridge over the troubled waters?
  
 The truth of who we are will prevail.  
 It is inherent and nothing we thought will change this
 We are part of a bigger truth which we cannot abandon 
  
 This is our time and identity; our feelings will change, 
 but our convictions prevail
 We are children, continually learning
  
 Looking for substantiation of our convictions
 Praying for strength to stand firm on them
 Knowing we are part of a picture bigger than ourselves

I had a beautiful poem about my late bride

I went through the procedure to post on my blog

Something went haywire

It was nicely blocked but came out scattered

I tried again, but to no avail

The angels took her nine years ago today

She was as lovely in her last two years as

she had been during her life

She knew how to live

and was very tolerant, but

knew how to give the pope’s blessing

when it was appropriate

I feel for our children

They miss her so

I miss her everyday

but know that loss is part of life

I will post my other feelings about my lovely bride

when I figure out what went wrong

I am sure it won’t be too long

 The pundits are not dreamers
 They merely hang on, repeating
 information, true or otherwise, in ways
 that show they can out do their mates
 They are hyperbolic and over the top
  
 Constantly trying to take down the one man
 who keeps his promises, such as 
 energy independence, improved wages, 
 higher employment for minorities,
 removing regulations, reducing taxes,
 providing hope for sick military men and
 rebuilding our defense, building the wall
 on our southern border, dissolving the
 Iran Deal, defeating Isis, initiating  
 Fair Trade deals, and much more
  
 Is he applauded?  No.  Over ninety percent
 of the news concerning him is negative
 The main stream media is brutal
 Journalism as we once knew is dead
  
 Dreamers are usually doers and are not content
 They are busy, but are thinking of improving and 
 evolving to new heights constantly as they
 move along the road.  
  
 The pundits are banging heads in an overcrowded room, 
 each claiming to have the most exciting spin.  
 Where is the love of country?
  
 Why do the dreamers go for improvements?
  
 Where is the talk of alliances with our free world partners 
 among the pundits?  There is none.
  
 The dreamer talks of this and of 
 everyone paying their fair share, 
 but he is not about to receive credit.  
 That would constitute a basic violation of 
 the hidden agenda in the deep state and 
 the really fake news providers
  
 Dreamers are aware of injustices in the world
 They do not knock anyone trying to improve condition. 
 The pundits do.  Dreamers point out genocide, starvation, 
 suicides and lack of potable water
  
 Pundits talk about how soft their sheets are
  
 How many people only listen to the liberal pundits?  
 Certainly not the deplorable.  So there is hope.  
 Most want the border fixed.  
 They care for those losing loved ones.  
 They do not hate the president and they do love their country.
  
 The left leaning pundits are overpaid comedians. 
 The programs, and they are programed, 
 are sponsored by commercials, 
 many of them as awkward and disingenuous as 
 the propaganda they are supporting
  
 Dreamers have sheets and running water in this country, 
 but they are not gloating or looking away from reality
